Biblical Education Impacting Billions

From ancient civilizations various ways of learning to the Greeks that pioneered the idea of
universities, were still on the quest of understanding the human persons capability to absorb
knowledge and apply it to the real world. Our educational system hasnt really changed, although
thousands of years already passed; from the use of papyrus reeds to scrolls and to the industrial
revolution that developed the Gutenberg press which further gave way to a more conducive
storage of knowledge. This technology gave and paved the way for the intellectuals to rise up off
their graves of ignorance, people became more educated surpassing the intelligence of their
forefathers that only based their knowledge from the word of mouth, now education is accessible
for everyone.
The very first book published by the Gutenberg press is the Bible, this fact not only strengthened
the spirituality of the people but also fortified their capacity for reason and idealism. Martin
Luther, John Calvin, and many more Biblical scholars came into the world view of history. These
people started revolutions, reformations, and innovations inside the consciousness of the human
person. From this era, the King James Bible was produced, the Greek Bible was translated by a
number of translators and scholars, it opened a lot of opportunities in Europe and on nearby
countries. The Bible imposed upon the hearts of men the morality they should follow, the
idealistic and compelling urgency for order and peace, it gave the people the need to get in depth

into the study of the Holy Scriptures. Having all these said, reformations that is caused by the
translation of the Greek Bible changed oppressed nations and opened their eyes to the reality.
In addition, countries like the United States of America based their constitution on the moral
code of the Bible, nations around the world have seen the success of the wisdom of the Bible
when understood by the nations and its citizens. In fact, the Bible is the primary syllabus used in
schools during the early ages of the American Colonization, but as time progress we have also
seen the downfall of the once seen as superior. Now that same epitome of godly education and
freedom is falling into the depths of sand-piled crises. It is a clich thing to say that everything is
falling because the Bible is being taken out of the educational system. But we got to understand
that the Bible still if the primary basis of morality that produces righteous citizens. Without it
were on freefall. It is therefore time for us to bring back the Bible back into its rightful place;
into the schools and universities.
Biblical education with the Via Veritas Vita as the center is important and vital to the
holistic success of the student body, we should further substantiate the lectures on religion
classes and with conviction and sincerity display the real purpose of it, which is to inspire
students to be Christ-like in service and leadership. The major problem that we are currently
facing is the weight of the substance of religious materials. Students are lacking enthusiasm and
interest in regards to the study of the Bible. The Bible as we know it is vital to the progress of the
students reasoning and understanding of the world at large. We should substantiate and empower
Biblical Education so that the interest of the students will spur into learning, a learning that will
lead to a revolutionary change in thinking of this generation.
There are many factors in the society that would be affected by this positive endeavor first of
which is the understanding and the appreciation of our cultural heritage through the Bible. On a

poll conducted by Comres, people generally understood the importance of the Bible for
appreciating culture, history, and politics. This consensus even in a society changing drastically
in what they believe still regards the Bible as an important element to the development of the
society, half of the polled individuals believe also that the Bible is also important for the visuals
arts, literature, and history. Furthermore, the Bible also had a great impact into the development
of our language. Over 22,000 English words have their root in Hebrew. Thats more than the
roots of Greek, Latin, and French. The Bible is quoted more often than any other piece of
literature in history and has had more influence on our language, culture, and laws than any
other book or idea ever published. The King James Bible and the English language, counts 257
phrases from the King James Bible in contemporary English idiom. This very fact in itself is an
evidence that it is because of the Bible that our languages, cultures, and laws brought us to the
golden age of understanding. Although the many people might still say that Biblical Education
should be only confined inside religious institutions like the church, we would still best achieve
understanding if the Bible is sailing on the mainstream. The church has been known for Sunday
schools and so this good enough for those people who believes in the Bible because not everyone
in the schools believe in the Bible anyway. On the contrary, we should understand that schools
has been shaping generations for hundreds of years. If we are aiming to build a strong and
morally upright society, Biblical education should as well be used in the universities. The US
statesman Daniel Webster said, If theres anything in my thoughts or style to comment, the
credit is due to my parents for instilling in me an early love of the scriptures. We should also
look on the positive effects of having the Bible used in the universities and substantiated and
more empowered on universities that already are using religious materials as a part of their

syllabus. We should realize that putting Biblical education on the school system will further
induce revolutionary and wholesome learning with the guidance of its principles.
Looking through the development of the student body, Biblical education will help students
succeed psychologically. The reality is quite apparent, the fact that college itself is difficult to go
through it is the same with life itself, it is understandably cumbersome to bear on. Living a life
under the yoke of challenges is tiring and difficult, but even with biblical education we would
still go under the pressure of life but the only difference with the Bible in the center of our
learning is that it will give us the necessary strength to face our giants and recuperate from
whatever challenges we are going through. Religious students tend to succeed more because of
their faith in God. Thomas Jefferson, the 3rd president of the United States stated, I have
always said, I always will say, that the studious perusal of the scared volume will make better
citizens, better fathers, and better husbands. Imagine living in a society where people recognize
that physical and intellectual strength is not attained only through his own hard work, but it is a
gift from God and therefore no one is going to boast about his or her own strength. A society
having this perception will live in peace and compassion. Furthermore, religious students tend to
give off stress easily because they are assured that they are in the hands of God. Learning about
religion is extremely important from a psychological standpoint for young kids. Dr. Erika J.
Chopich wrote that kids need to believe something greater to fully push themselves to excel. It is
therefore helpful for students to engage into religious study not only because Bible contains
knowledge regarding the history of human kind, but it will help them succeed through the
strengthening of their faith and belief that they are capable of doing great things because of God.
Anti-religious groups standpoint on religion being practiced in the society is quite logical though
when one article said, Youre taught that this faith-based approach is a more spiritual and

conscious way to live, but in reality its precisely the opposite. Getting you to distrust your own
cerebral cortex actually makes you dumber and easier to manipulate and control. Karl Marx
was right when he said, Religion is the opiate of the people. Religion could be the opiate of
the people, yes people become more hopeful and sometimes delusional on certain things because
their thinking is not rational anymore. They based their reason on their incapacity to find the
problem in the society and solve it with their bare hands. But there is a problem here. In
retrospect, we attempted to reach for the stars and reach for the total solution of our despair. We
waged wars against countries and declared ourselves us heroes of the century. We did all this in
the name of religion. We did all this in the name of reason and the understanding that we are
fighting for humanity. Our countries knew that war would never solve a long term problem.
Chaos cannot be solved by chaos. But we did fight anyway, knowing that there is some good
thing to look forward to, when we win a battle against the enemy and that is a good will. We
have seen and heard about what happened in the world wars, Nazi Germany impressed upon the
nations their capacity to rule over the world with a tyrannical ideology, anti-Semitism on its
peak. As Christians, the United States and the United Kingdom fought a bloody battle to save
and rescue humanity from utter destruction and annihilation, for whoever go against the Fuhrer
will lose their lives. Now, religion may have acted as an opium and a stimulant that stirred the
spirits of the American people to fight against inhumanity but dont we think that it is vital to the
society for something to stir us up. Dont we think that religion is important because it holds us
together and bind our spirits with the principles hidden inside its pages? We should remember
that a society living in a religious community is significantly better than a community in havoc,
in chaos. Religious education contributes to the personal development and well-being and to
the community cohesion by promoting mutual respect and tolerance in a diverse society.

Furthermore, Biblical education imposes godly morality to students thus helping them not to
only overcome the possibility of misdirection but also giving them the means in which they can
grow in logical reasoning and knowledge. The Bible is filled with historical accounts;
philosophical and theological documents, harnessing these contents would provoke students to
get off of their shallow conformability and start questioning issues that matter. An article from
Salvord based in UK says, Religion and beliefs inform our values and are reflected in what we
say and how behave. Religious education provokes challenging questions about the ultimate
meaning and purpose of life, beliefs about God, the self and the nature of reality, issues of the
right and wrong and what it means to be human. Religious education also encourages pupils to
learn from different perspective thus letting them see their own state of reality. It continues, It
develops the pupils knowledge and understanding of the nature of religion and belief including
Christianity, other principle religions, other religious traditions, and world views that offer
answers to these challenging questions. It offers opportunities for personal reflection and
spiritual development. It enhances awareness and understanding of religions and beliefs,
teachings, practices, and forms of expression, and of the influence of religion on individuals,
families, communities, and cultures. People still say that religion is something that will alienate
you from your own will. It acts more than an opium because unlike opium it conditions you to be
someone else and it brings you about onto submission to a set of rules and guidelines. An article
says that religion is an engineered obedience training, Religion is very effective on shaping the
entirety of the person. It is an instrument that changes peoples beliefs. It convinces you to give
your power away to something outside yourself. It will condition you to be weaker, more docile,
and easier to control. Religions actively promote this weakening process as if it were beneficial,
commonly branding it with the word faith. What theyre actually promoting is submission. On

the contrary. there is nothing bad when your behavior is regulated by virtue. The main traits that
Christianity and other religions are kindness, godliness, honor, and etc., there is nothing wrong
with it changing your beliefs and points of view because in return the world will be a better place
and a safer place to live in. The excerpt taken from an article also states that it will condition
you to be weaker, more docile, and easier to control. This argumentation is plainly biased
because applying the virtue of kindness, self-control, and love is not an act of weakness it is
rather an act that you are more understanding and educated, unlike the people who acts on the
maxim of self-preservation and self-gratification that impresses on us that they are strong and
their strength is inherent in them. These people are weak because they act according to as they
are pleased. On the other hand, religious individuals value the feelings of other people, they
dont think of themselves as the only agents on a circumstance. They consider the consequences
of their activities, the opposition may say that they are weakening themselves but the weakening
of a spirit, voluntarily, a self-control takes more courage and strength. There is no proof that we
can accomplish as high as we are now without the men who were built by the building blocks of
Biblical principles. Individuals like C.S. Lewis, a bestselling author who sought to promote
Christian ideas with the context of his Narnia Chronicles, writing an account of why he became
a Christian after a long period of internal debate. Martin Luther King Jr., a pioneering leader of
the US civil rights, fought peaceful for an end to segregation and discrimination against colored
people in America. His powerful speeches like the I have a dream used Christian imagery
value to promote the ideal of a oneness world a world where everyone would be treated as
equal. Another example is Nelson Mandela, a black nationalist and the first black president of
South Africa. A militant anti-apartheid activist who spent 27 years in prison. After his release,
his negotiations in the early 1990s with South African Pres. F.W. Klerk helped end the countrys

apartheid system of racial segregation and ushered in peaceful transition to majority rule. These
people are only 3 of the thousands that spoke and stood against the dilemmas the world is facing,
these people adhered to the call of urgency, a call, a conviction from the Most High. People like,
Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Nicholas Copernicus, Sir Francis Bacon, and many more believed
in a Supreme God, they didnt only believed but they functioned under the recognition that there
is a Creator for us to worship and lift up, their open hearts and open minds gave way to the
discovery of the branches of science because they understood the first and main principle of
creation. Looking back, imagine a world where teenagers; high-school and college students alike
all recognize that the Bible is the key to success, if that is the case then our society will never be
the same again. Schools will produce a new generation of Galileos, Newtons, and Einsteins.
Universities will produce civil rights activists and human right defenders, like Martin Luther
King Jr., Nelson Mandela, and Malala. Education is not the answer in itself, the answer to our
ignorance still depends on what kind of education we pursue. Biblical Education is a key to
mental and spiritual freedom in itself. Our society is shackled by different ideologies and most of
its own destroys itself. On the other hand, students are not well aware of what is happening to the
world, sometimes it is not the ignorance that hinders us but the apathy that lingers on the back of
our heads that churns and causes us to just look forward and never look back to the principles
that lead and pushed us to and through the limits of our own perception.
Education is incomplete without the transformation of our minds. Even though knowledge, facts,
and history has taught us many things, from the knowledge of whats and whys to what we are
supposed to do, we still have to change the way we think. The Bible has taught us the value of
history for it is the only historical account that even experts would say that It is the most
accurate historical document, it also gave us the words we use in our speech, and the morality

that we used as a rule to govern our actions. It is therefore important to use the Bible
significantly in the universities and colleges, for the young ones will soon change the world
through their accumulated knowledge. It says in Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed from lack
of knowledge.Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because
you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
We should therefore cast ignorance and apathy aside and start giving ourselves into the study of
the Word of God and then understand and know how to make an impact and difference in the
world.
