The Electronics Systems Development & Application Division under R&D in Electronics
Group is promoting technology development and applications in Industrial Electronics for
various industrial and economic/service sectors covering Power Electronics, Intelligent
Transportation Systems, Automation Systems for process industries, Agri-Electronics,
Electronics Personal Safety Devices/Systems, etc. The Division undertakes R&D proposals for
financial support with the objectives of enhancement of countrys research, design &
application capabilities in emerging technologies, creation of cutting edge technology and
products by supporting R&D cycle, from the proof of concept to technology transfer,
demonstration by application of emerging technologies and assist industry including MSME
sector by making available cost-effective and state-of-art technologies.
To undertake the research & development work as per objectives, Electronics Systems
Development & Application Division has identified following thrust areas:i.

Industrial Electronics: Energy Sector (conventional/ non-conventional, Generation,

Transmission & Distribution, Conversion, Consumption etc.) Power Electronics,
Smart Grid Components, Energy storage.

ii.

Mobility: Electronics system for mobility/ Intelligent Transportation Systems etc.

iii.

Supply Chain Systems, Life Cycle Analysis systems, Home & building electronics,
Water Systems, Electronics in human endeavour, Agriculture & Food, Textiles
(futuristic) etc.

iv.

Process Industries: Image processing solutions and advanced automation

solutions/System, technology for shallow sea and air, Drones/ Space Electronics.

v.

Personal Safety Devices & system including Emergency Response System and their
deployment.

vi.

Intelligent sensors, interface/ embedded electronics, image analytics/ industrial

image processing/ industrial automation systems, social interactions, urban designs,
knowledge analytics, wide band gap devices.

The project proposals on the above thrust areas can be submitted for financial support by
Scientists/Engineers/Technologists/Management Specialists/Academic Institutions/Registered
Scientific Societies/R&D institutions/Labs/Autonomous R&D organizations having adequate
infrastructure/facilities to carry out cutting edge R&D as per the thrust areas mentioned above.
The proposals may be single or multi-institutional with clearly defined milestones/timelines
and roles & responsibilities of individual institution, nodal agency in case of multi-institutional
proposal. Tie-up with users/industry partner is highly desirable with financial/in kind
contribution in the project development/ implementation.
After initial scrutiny, feasibility towards the thrust areas/outcome of the proposal at division
level, an Expert Group would do technical & financial evaluation and recommend the proposal
suitably for financial support.

Project proposals in the standard application format (with terms & conditions signed by
Head of Institute) available at DeitY website (http://deity.gov.in/content/schemes-and-policies)
may be sent by the Chief Investigator duly forwarded by the Head of the Institution to Shri R.
C. Meharde, Sr. Director and Head, Electronics Systems Development & Application Division,

Lodi Road, New Delhi 110 003. A soft copy of R&D proposal is also to be submitted through
