January,

1993

Dear Faithful Supporters:

Feliz Ano Novo!

Happy New Yeari
We thank God for all of the bless
ings He has bestowed upon us!
We pray that 1993 will be another
year when more souls are won and more lives are touched for our
Lord 1

We started the New Year with a trip to Santiago, Chile (sixty hours
in a bus) for the second South American Missionary Conference.
We spent one week with missionaries from Chile,

Ecuador,

Columbia,

Argentina, and Brazil.

A total of approximately sixty people with
twenty different missions were represented.
We were challenged
by Mark Scott, Professor at Ozark Christian College and also by
Dr. Bruce Parmenter, Professor at Friends University.
We were
so blessed by the preaching, teaching, and fellowship we experienced
there.
It was decided by the missionaries represented to continue
having the conference every three years, the next one scheduled
for 1996 in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
When we returned we were pleased to find that the dam at the camp
had been completed and was even full of water due to the heavy
rains!
Even better that the dam held up during that time!
We

thank God for Helio from the Goianira Church and his help in getting
the tractor out to the camp.
The dam will offer a place to swim
and will help considerably in the irrigation of crops that we plan
to plant.
These fruits and vegetables can then be used to lower
camp registration fees.

Aunt Ruth's Christian Day School, started by the Novo Horizonte

Church, was closed as of January, 1993.
After much prayer and
deliberation, a decision was made by ministry leaders to close
the school due to high taxes.
These taxes are being imposed on

all private schools in an effort to gain more public school support.

We thank God for the lives that were touched by the Christian example
set

there.

I t is hard to believe that we have been in Brazil for almost two

years! We have learned so much and have grown in many ways. We

are looking forward to being back in the States to see family and
friends

and

support us.

to

be able to share our work with

the churches that

We look forward to making new friends in the churches

that have begun to support us while on the field.

Our furlough

will begin in May, 1993. Please contact Gene Thomas in Michigan

for speaking arrangements.
(weekends, camps , VBS, etc.)
We would appreciate your prayers as we make our plans for furlough.
We would also ask your prayers for our ministry in Brazil.
May God bless you as you serve Him!
In Christ,

Board of Directors
Michiana-Brazil Christian Mission:

Dear Board Members;

It is with much regret that I am offering my resignation as

your missionary. Over the last few months the Church in Brazilia
and the theater group have been experiencing changes and great
difficulties^ which impair me to-carry on an effective mintristry. I
do understand that I can.apply for support again in the future if
a good ministry begins to develope. I appreciate everything that
this Mission has done for me and I would like to thank you for your
support and ministry to me.
May God continue to guide you in all
you for the furthering of his Kingdom.

In his eternal

of the work set before

love.
