Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer (m/w)

Job location: Berlin, Germany

ParkTAG is an app-based automated crowdsourcing service for curbside parking vacancy. Users report
free parking spots through the patent pending auto-detect feature. Globally roughly 300 Mio parking-
pested drivers can thus save around 15 minutes every day. The experienced team is looking for a Machine
Learning Specialized / Data Scientist to accelerate current technology development. You will report
directly to the CTO.

Your responsibilities

Continuously improve ParkTAGs multiple sensors based system to detect state of movement
Partner with the CTO to design and develop advanced machine learning and predictive analytics
capabilities for vehicle movements on mobile platforms and in our backend
Own the complete process: define the data collection process, process the collected data, test and
train different algorithms, implement the findings together with the development team
Optimize sensor usage to meet required precision and battery usage
Perform large-scale data analysis by developing effective heuristics and statistical models for
pattern recognition, segmentation, classification, general optimization and time series analysis
Find the right balance between heuristics and a model driven approach

Job requirements

Extensive experience in a machine learning

Pragmatic, performance driven and hands-on mindset
Experience with mobile platforms and their constraints
Strong Statistics foundation esp. in pattern recognition i.e. feature/ classifier definition and
selection
Hands on experience with statistical analysis, visualization and data mining tools such as R,
Hadoop, RapidMiner, Weka, Spark, Storm etc.
Experience in statistical modelling, algorithm development, and data mining of massive datasets
and events
Proficiency with scripting or programming languages (e.g. Java (Android), ObjectiveC (iOS), Ruby,
Python) and practical experience with SQL and NoSQL database systems
Ability to work and communicate in a fast paced international environment
Comprehensive education in a quantitative discipline (e.g. MSc in either Applied Mathematics,
Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Operations Research) or equivalent proof of knowledge
Absolutely fluent in English; German is a plus but not mandatory
