Tutorial Topic 1 : Explore ways in which drama can be integrated in the new curriculum.

Answer:
1. Drama is part of real life and prepares students to deal with lifes problems.
- In KSSR ,the three theme which are World of Stories, World of Knowledge, World of Self ,
teacher can relates the teaching and learning with students life. For example, students learn
about the moral values and add their knowledge about other cultures, races, religions and also
the way of life.
2. Drama engages students in creative problem-solving and decision making.
By learning drama , students actually can solve problems using their experiences based on the
guidance and support skills learned. Besides, drama teach them how to respond on making
decision, improving their thinking skills, and motivate themselves.
3. Drama enhance students psychological well-being.
Different characters in drama create students true feelings and sense of personality without any
fear being judged or critized. They also develop their overall well being too.
4. Drama develop empathy and new perspectives.
Variety of character allows students to use all senses and characteristics to understand any
character in the drama or plays they had learned. Thus, it helps the students to build a strong
character and personality too.

ACT I SCENE 1

Set in 1950s style diner, McDennys, in the present day England. BERYL is sitting
at the back of a u shaped booth. She is tucking into a large burger and reading a
gas bill.

Enter LYNDA, SUSAN and RODERICK


LYNDA: (speaking to SUSAN and ROD as they make their way over to BERYL)
...put your back into it man, I said, use some elbow grease, dont just
tickle it, I want to see my face in it... Hi Beryl...
BERYL hides the burger under the table
BERYL: Oh hi
SUSAN: (sits at the table at the left side of BERYL) He was doing his best.
ROD: Hi
LYNDA: I dont want to see any smear marks and dont bend the aerial or Ill stop it
out of your wages.

LYNDA and ROD sit to the right of BERYL


SUSAN: Lynda, I think youre being a bit harsh. Hi Beryl
LYNDA: If youre going to do something, do it right thats what I say.
Enter waiter carrying a large portion of fries
WAITER: (To BERYL) your large fries Madam
LYNDA: Beryl?
BERYL: Theyre not mine
WAITER: Sorry?
BERYL: No, you must be mixing me up with someone else.
WAITER: (looks around the empty room)
BERYL: I didnt order any.
WAITER: Oh, but you did.

Topic 3 (Drama Activities) Demonstrate how puppetry, mask, role-play, hot seating, dance
drama and/or readers theatre is used (station-based activity).

Puppetry :
By using puppet, the hand movement and speech reduced. Puppeteers must deliver the
lines at the appropriate time while moving the puppet around in relation to other puppet.
Mask :
Portray the character part by wearing the suitable mask. When wearing the mask, the
eye-holes of the mask player must be in relation between other fellow players. Then ,
they should move around the stage and deliver their lines.
Role-play :
Acting a particular role and pretending to be someone else. It is depends on the role of
the character.
Hot seating :
Sitting on the chair in front of the group. Then , try to oppose the point of view after
finding the character. Other group member can ask questions about the person
background, behaviour and motivation.
Dance drama:
Players present a culturally relevant dance scene to make audience understand more
about the plays. It takes special skill and a passion especially for specific art form.
Readers Theatre :
Players dont need to remember the lines, movement or actions but reading the lines
with acceptable expression.
