BIOGRAPHY

Civil Air Patrol

Maj. Philip R. Hubacek


Capt. Phil Hubacek is assigned as the Arizona Wing, Group 2 AEO with an additional duty
assignment as one of the Arizona Wing External AEOs. Prior to these assignments he was the
Show Low, Arizona Composite Squadron AEO. Capt. Hubacek was a CAP Cadet in Texas from
1967 to 1972. In July 2006, he re-joined CAP as a Senior Member in Show Low. From 1968 to
1972 Capt. Hubacek attended two years at the University of Houston, then 2 years at Texas
A&M University in the Corp of Cadets where he graduated with a B.S. in Aerospace
Engineering with honors. From 1972 to 1979 he was commissioned in the United States Air
Force, completed USAF pilot training, and was a B-52H nuclear combat crewmember with the
82nd Bomb Squadron. After leaving the service in 1979 with the rank of Captain, he earned his
FAA Airline Transport Rating, and flew executive jets in Houston, TX for an Air Taxi Service
before being employed as an Avionics Flight Test Engineer at Boeing Commercial Airplane Co.,
Seattle, WA in 1980. From 1984 until retirement in 2005, Capt. Hubacek worked for
Sperry/Honeywell Intl in Phoenix as an avionics system engineer and manager, and managed
the companys Certification Liaison Department.
