BIOGRAPHY

James C. Bobick
James C. (Jay) Bobick is the Colorado State and Veterans Nursing Home Commission
Chairman, a Colorado Board of Veterans Affairs member and past president of the United
Veterans Committee (UVC) of Colorado. Currently, he serves as the UVC Legislative
Chairman and as such works directly with the State Legislature on veterans issues and priorities.
As a member of these three State organizations, he serves approximately 450,000 Colorado State
veterans as well as their immediate families totaling over one million Colorado citizens.
Jay is a retired US Air Force Colonel having served 27 years on active duty. His Air Force
assignments include positions as Commander, 3400 Technical Training Wing, Lowry Air Force
Base, Colorado; Commander of Elmendorf Air Force Base and Shemya Air Force Base, Alaska;
and Deputy Director of Air National Guard Programs, as well as Program Manager, U.S. Air
Force Programs Directorate, both in the Pentagon. He also served as a U.S. Air Force Exchange
Officer to the Royal Australian Air Force. He is a rated master navigator with 5,000 hours,
primarily in tactical airlift aircraft.
He also has been active in the Civil Air Patrol having joined the National Capital Wing as a cadet
in 1953. He was an International Air Cadet Exchange cadet to England in 1957. Jay was the
CAP National Commander for three years holding the CAP rank of Brigadier General. He has
held several CAP staff positions and conducted a wide variety of diverse CAP activities serving
as a squadron commander, deputy group commander, the Colorado Wing Commander, Rocky
Mountain Region Commander, national chief of staff and was national vice commander prior to
his appointment as national commander on 6 March 1998. Jay remains active with Civil Air
Patrol and has held membership in the Colorado, Alaska, Kansas, California, Texas, Georgia and
National Capital wings. His military and CAP experience spans more than 55 years.
Jay Bobick is a United Methodist Certified Lay Speaker; is active in the Scottish and York Rite
Masonic Bodies; the Sojourners; and is the Master of his Masonic Lodge. He currently serves as
the Aurora Museum Foundation Treasurer. Jay has been a 9 Health Fair Site Coordinator and
served on their resource committee. He is a retired real estate broker, past president of the Aurora
Association of REALTORS and was REALTOR of the Year for 1996; and is a past director of
the Colorado Association of REALTORS. He also maintains other business, civic and religious
affiliations and is active in state, community and local affairs.
