What do you know about Trade development Authority of Pakistan and its functions?

Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) is a body corporate established on 8th November 2006, under a
Presidential Ordinance. The TDAP is the successor organization to the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB). The
administrative ministry of TDAP is the ministry of commerce which have an objective to promote and sustainable
growth of exporting of good and service.

Following are the functions of TDAP;


Marketing

Market research
Fairs and exhibitions local and international
Trade delegation for exploring International Market
Overseas publicity to create brand / country /product awareness
Participation in trade related events
Facilitation through Commercial Counselors abroad
Expo centre- holding if international / local exhibitions
Seminar / conferences/ workshops to create awareness about export related issues.

Standardization and simplification of procedures
Establish buyer- seller contacts
Information dissemination through website/Fax-on-Demand/Pakistan Export information Bulletin

Establishment of training institutes for capacity development in sectors like Textile, Leather, Surgical,

B) Please name the export products of Pakistan and which countries are most likely buyers of these
products and why?

There are four broadly classified product divisions, namely, Agro and Food, Textile and Clothing, Minerals and
Metals, Engineering and Other Manufacturing.

AGRO AND FOOD


Pakistan still has a huge untapped potential for grabbing a significant share of world agro-food exports. The Agro
Food Division at TDAP is focused on helping stimulate the export of agro-food products from Pakistan in order to
achieve this potential. The buyers of agro and food products of Pakistan are New Zealand, Australia, Sri Lanka,
Maldives and Malaysia. Some of the African and Arab countries like South Africa, Yemen and Oman also show
their interest in Pakistan Agro and Food Products.
TEXTILE AND CLOTHING
Textile is the largest sector of our exports, and the single largest employer. To endeavour to move forward rapidly
on the export front, it is inevitable that special attention be paid towards this sector. TDAP has tried to provide a
focused approach in attaining this objective.
TDAP's Textile & Clothing Division is also looking after exports of Carpets, Handicrafts, Leather and Leather
Goods. Trade Delegation for Leather was sent to Czech Republic / Poland / Hungary / Japan in the recent years.
More such delegations are planned for Australia / New Zealand for leather and for Textiles to African countries.
The Division also plans to hold a product display for Pakistani textile products at Osaka, Japan, in the current
financial year
MINERALS AND METALS
Pakistan has exceptional export potential of mineral & metals due to its significant natural resources. The country
is well-endowed with a great number such minerals and metals which include: Petroleum Group, Marble, Onyx,
Granite and other Dimensional Stones, Talc (Soap Stone), Rock Salt, Sea Salt, Gypsum, Coal, Gemstones,
Noble Metals, Chromite, Copper Ore, Iron Ore, Lead-Zinc Ores etc.
The potential buyers include Saudi Arab, China Brazil and other countries
ENGINEERING AND OTHER MANUFACTURING
Engineering & Other Manufacturing Division mainly looks after export promotion of Engineering goods including
Electric Fans, Transport Equipment, Other Electrical Machinery, Machinery Specialized, Auto parts &
Accessories, Surgical Instruments, Cutlery, Sports Goods. In addition, Pharmaceuticals, Other chemicals, Plastic
& its products, Furniture & Cement are also covered under the scope of this Division. Thus, the spectrum of
manufacturing units range from small to large scale industries spread across the country.
The potential buyers include USA, Tanzania, Germany, Hong Kong, Libya, and Brazil.
