CAE Present
Version 3.22.14.0 BETA
cae.com/mining
Import drillhole data with many formats, from different sources, including: text,
SQL/ODBC database tables, spreadsheets and other third party formats.
Verify the data then combine and process it to create drillhole traces indexed to multiple
tables for downhole intervals and depth logs.
View, format and print the downhole data tables in tabulated sheets.
Plot drillhole traces and indexed sample data values in plan, section or any three
dimensional view desired. A complete family of sections can be defined from a single
section definition using a single dialog.
Plot all downhole data as scaled drillhole log sheets. A wide selection of presentation
styles are available including text, line graphs, histograms and bars with optional color fill
and pattern fill.
Graphically interrogate and composite the drillhole data in table, section, 3D or log views.
All views can be linked dynamically so that samples selected in any one view are selected
in all linked views.
Draw interpretations directly onto section plots then save them as 3D polygons which can
be exported.
Select and save ore zone intersections which can then be displayed in section and log
plots, reported and exported.
Insert smart plot items like text boxes, coordinate grids, scale bars, tables and title
blocks which automatically adjust as you change the position, orientation and scale of
plot sheets.
Insert parameter profiles which dynamically re-intersect the surface model as the section
is rotated or re-positioned.
Import and format other 3D objects from CAD drawings and other 3D data sources using
the Data Source Drivers.
Select different paper sheet sizes, orientations, margins and scales for each view type, all
within the same document.
Use Page Layout mode to display and edit interactively page borders, sheet margins, plot
frames, coordinate grids, plot items and parameter profiles.

Windows 8 Compatibility
This version of S5DP has been tested against Microsofts latest Windows platform (8),
which is now fully supported.
Side-by-Side Robustness
This version of S5DP has been engineered to co-exist with other CAE Products on the
same system without unexpected behaviour following install/uninstall operations.
Fusion 7 Connectivity
Several issues relating to connectivity with CAE Fusion 7 have been resolved to allow a
seamless transfer of downhole data into your reporting views.

Please review MR22 License Services Technical Note, further below, before
installing this beta version.
You have a suitable testing environment available. Please review the Side-by-Side
Support note further below before installing this beta version. It is recommended that
you do not install this beta version on a system that includes other CAE products as this
aspect is still being tested by the engineers.

SIDE-BY-SIDE SUPPORT
Installation packages have been completely redesigned for this version of Studio to
isolate the Studio package from other installed CAE products. This will prevent the issues
that have been reported against previous versions where shared components are
updated, affecting CAE products other than Studio.

Control license usage and provide the most cost-effective distribution of licenses through
the organisation
Prevent license access by unauthorized users that have access to the licensing server
Provide maximum operational uptime and reduce costs associated with license
unavailability
Quick and easy management of license allocation on a user- and/or group-based system.
Users upgrading from previous versions of License Services should read the
following section Compatibility with Previous Versions before rolling out this
version, if an Enterprise License Server will be installed.
In this version, additional UI options are available to users of the CAE License Manager
application:
cae.com/mining
If an Enterprise Server License is available on the host system, the Add User or Group button is
enabled. This is used to access standard Windows controls to select NT Users and/or Groups,
e.g.:
Licensing Permissions
Once assigned, two permission types are available:
Use License:
cae.com/mining
Allow: the user or group can access the license/solution remotely from a
compatible CAE Application client, but not check it out (unless the Check Out
License permission has been allowed)
Deny: the user or group is explicitly denied access to the license remotely, even if
they are part of a group that has remote access permissions.
Allow: the user or group can check the license/solution out to a local client
machine but will not permit the user to access the license remotely unless the Use
License permission is allowed.
Deny: the user or group is explicitly prohibited from checking the license/solution
out to a local machine, even if they are part of a group that has check out
permissions allowed.
Common Scenarios
I wish to check out or remotely access a solution to Site XYZ of my organization only Site ABC
must not be able to check out or remotely access this solution.
Setup:
1. On the licensing server, ensure the Enterprise License Server is installed and that all
members of the XYZ site that require access are added to an NT group (A).
2. Group all qualifying user accounts in the ABC site into a different group (B).
3. Set Allow permissions for group A for both Use License and Check Out License options.
4. Set Deny permissions for group B for both Use License and Check Out License options.
My organization does not wish to remotely serve licenses they must always be checked out
before use. I want my geology department to be able to check out the Studio solution license
bundle only and my Mine Planners to access the Studio 5D Planner license bundle only
Setup:
1. On the licensing server, ensure the Enterprise License Server is installed and that all
members of the Geology department that require access are added to an NT group (A).
2. Group all qualifying user accounts in the Mine Planning department into a different group
(B).
3. Set permissions for the Studio Solution so that both Group A and B are denied permission
to Use License
4. For the Studio solution, set permissions for Group A only to allow Check Out License
cae.com/mining
5. For the Studio solution, set permissions for Group B only to deny Check Out License
6. Set permissions for the Studio 5D Planner solution so that both Group A and B are denied
permission to Use License
7. For the Studio 5D Planner solution, set permissions for Group A only to deny Check Out
License
8. For the Studio 5D Planner solution, set permissions for Group B only to allow Check Out
License
Important Note: Compatibility with Previous Versions
Due to the changes required to support the User Access Control feature in MR23 License
Services, it may be necessary to upgrade CAE License Manager clients that will access the
server. This is only the case if an Enterprise License Server is to be installed on the machine(s)
serving licenses to your organisation.
If you do not intend to make use of the Enterprise License Server, MR23 License Services can
co-exist with earlier versions of CAE License Manager clients on the same network
(notwithstanding any previous Technical Notes issued with legacy versions).
If you intend to install an Enterprise License Server, you will need to upgrade CAE License
Manager on all clients that will access it.
Scenarios:
I have an MR16 version of Datamine License Manager installed on my client machines and
server. I wish to upgrade the server to MR23 but do not wish to install the Enterprise License
Server
Procedure: Due to a previous major upgrade with MR20 License Manager (not related to the
feature described in this document), an upgrade from MR16 to MR23 will require all client and
server platforms to be upgraded to the MR23 version, even if the Enterprise License Server is not
going to be installed/used.
I am setting up a new License Server with MR23 installed. I have a mixture of client License
Manager versions on the network, but all are later than MR20. I do not wish to use the
Enterprise License Server.
Procedure: In this situation, as there is no requirement to control access permissions, only the
License Server needs to be upgraded. This will communicate with the clients that are running
MR20 License Manager or later.
I am setting up a new License Server with MR23 installed. I have a mixture of client License
Manager versions on the network, but all are later than MR20. I do wish to use the Enterprise
License Server.
Procedure: To permit control of license allocation, in this situation it is necessary to upgrade the
server and all clients that will connect to it.
