General Instructions:
The Student should submit this assignment in the handwritten form (not in the typed
format)
The Student should submit this assignment within the time specified by the exam dept
The student should only use the Rule sheet papers for answering the questions.
The student should attach this assignment paper with the answered papers.
Failure to comply with the above Four instructions would lead to rejection of assignment.
Specific Instructions:
There are four Questions in this assignment. The student should answer all the four
questions. Marks allotted 100.
Each Question carries equal marks (25 marks) unless specified explicitly.
Question 1:
(a) What is globalisation and what are the main features of Multi National Companies
(MNC). What are the main reasons for MNCs going global. Name five MNCs in the
Indian automobile sector and their Unique Selling Proposition (USP)
(b) As an HR manager of newly opened Big Bazaar retail out let how would you plan, recruit
and select 10 sales executives. What are the skills required at different levels
(c) What are the main principles of sound orgnisation structure. Explain the main features of
tall (narrow span of control) and flat (wide span of control) orgnisation structures. Give
examples.
Question 2:
(a) Sound organization structure is an essential prerequisite of efficient management. Discuss
the statement and point out various principles which should be followed in developing
organization structures.
(b) Is Outsourcing a strategy for Human Resource Planning? Discuss the importance of
human resource planning throughout the outsourcing process with a relevant example
from industry perspective
Question 3
Read the following case study carefully and then answer the questions that follow:
Manohar joined an ITES company as a junior executive. The process and product was new in the
market. So Manohar had the privilege of learning the technical intricacies of the technology in
detail. Its almost been two years now, Manohar is promoted as a Team lead now, Manohars
position in the Organization is very critical. Keeping that in the view point the company
encouraged him to join in an executive program sponsored by the company for his betterment. In

the span of three years, theres more competition in the market and companies are looking for
expertised employees like Manohar. In the same context, Manohar had a job offer from the
competitor.
Now answer the following questions:
Question (a) What would you suggest the Management to avoid a situation like this?
Question (b) What is the role of HR in this case?
Question (c) What is the role of the immediate boss in a situation like this?
Question (d) Do you see any impact on other employees?
Question (e) What is next if Manohar resigns the job and the company accepts?

(a) Explain about the Mckinseys Seven Ss variables in an Organisation in detail.
(b) What is the difference between the Scientific, Bureaucratic and Autocratic Leadership.
