Electrical Project Engineer / Application Engineer with more than 15 years of expertise in the field of maintenance,
industrial automation, including motion control, servos, AC/DC drives, robotics, PLCs, VLC, and PCs. Proven leader with
strong problem-solving skills and an established record of minimizing operational costs. Motivator and award-winning
teacher of system analysis, programming, electronics, motion control and devices, digital systems, and robotics.

SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
•Designed and implemented a computer based control system used for process control of a large tunnel kiln. This three-year
project required multi-discipline knowledge, including mathematical skills, computer simulation, automatic control,
data transmission, programming, and project management. Resulted in a 20 percent reduction of production scrap (and
a savings of approximately CAN $1.5 million/y).
•Trained engineers, technicians, and maintenance personnel in VFDs, servos, HMIs, PLCs and VLCs (Visual Logic
Controller with PC application for process control) and the theory of their combination with mechanical elements.
Customers included GM, Toyota, Honda, Inco, Wilburn Sawmills, and Apotex. Sessions incorporated “quiet” sales
techniques. Praised for clearness of message delivery.
•Conducted two training/sales sessions in Alberta for management and maintenance staff of a sawmill which resulted in an
order for 112 VFDs (ranging from 5 – 300 HP), valued at CAN $800K.

•Troubleshoot all types of automation equipment installation at customer sites in Houston, Vancouver, Northern Canada,
Montreal region and Toronto. Consistently provided solutions to both electric and mechanical motion problems;
required occasional quick redesign of the machinery in question or new operational concepts.
•Commissioned high power equipment (150–300 HP VFDs) throughout Canada. Provided occasional system rewiring.

•Successfully troubleshoot and upgraded the electric system of 27 production cells for Level 4 safety (PSR). Implemented 6
Sigma elements in automotive plant and troubleshoot successfully whole production cells for productivity and quality.
•Two-time recipient of the Toronto School of Business’s prestigious “Teacher of the Year” award.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
IKO INDUSTRIES LTD., Brampton, Canada (2007-2010)
Process Engineer
Provided technical guidance to plant management in the roof shingle manufacturing plant. The plant manufactured about 1
mln shingles per day and the process required full automation and data collection (PRODAC RS3000 system). Analyzed
data base for DT (Pareto analysis), production, run performance, waste management and “2nds” output (out of specs
production – achieved 0.7% while other plants run it at about 1.2%). Led mechanical, electrical system improvements and
safety projects. Conducted “Top 3” meetings that evaluated operational/mechanical/electrical DT and provided semi-
permanent solutions to commonly occurring problems. Collected and analysed data sheet profiles from Ohmart system (a
radioactive density scanner), fixed computer/system problems, programmed shift schedules, automatic palletizer assortment
data and parameters. Calibrated various dynamic weight scales and volume sensors, redesigned various production system
(like automation of cooling section - 44 bearings greasing applicator, 2 stage tar paper line painting system, fibreglass dust
collection/control system etc.). Managed and performed lab tests and data analysis of raw materials physical properties.
Sourced and procured all necessary parts and materials, planned short and long term budget. Wrote SOPs (Standard
Operating Procedure) for various test and system manipulations.
KTH SHELBURNE MANUFACTURING INC., Shelburne, Canada (2001-2006)
Project Electrical Engineer
Supported production, maintenance, new developments, and changes to existing production cells as an
Electric/Automation Specialist for this highly-automated (200-robots) plant that manufactures car-chassis-frames.
Programmed PLCs (GE Fanuc on the base of Logicmaster, VersaPro, Cimplicity, and Mitsubishi – GPP, GX Developer) to
accommodate new jigs and new models. Recommended new solutions to mechanics regarding actuators and pneumatic
equipment. Evaluated production cell capacity (each cell had from 1 to 12 robots), made changes to proposals
by Japanese designers (Hongo, Fanuc, and Hirata). Developed safety standards (PSR) for new and reorganized cells (Risk
Assessment and Hazard Analysis). Developed and programmed dynamic (time-related) overhead production monitoring
system for production cells. Involved in project planning, development of purchasing, and project economics.

MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AUTOMATION, Toronto, Canada (1997-2000)

Application Engineer
Conducted custom training for Mitsubishi products, including small and large HP VFDs, vector drives, servo motors and
their sizing, motion controllers, HMIs (Mitsubishi and Beijers), PLC programming, and MC2 (Steeplechase software for
PC-Based Control). Troubleshoot various systems with a combination of the above-mentioned products, provided complete
process automation concepts, and advised customers of their options. Provided support for new product applications.
Commissioned new equipment installations in sawmills, automotive plants, smelter and pulp industries. Provided advice to
OEMs on enclosure cabinet design as well as the management of conductive and propagated RFI in power equipment.
Proposed new mechanical solutions to be better suited for servo applications at equipment refurbishing as well as for new
applications. Wrote technical application notes, documentation corrections and commissioning reports. Designed and
constructed demos. Programmed self-contained servo-motion equipment (J2-S100) for customers and shows. Managed
approximately 30 demos in working condition and reprogrammed them, based on customer needs. Prepared Power Point
presentations for use in training and for new product introductions. Evaluated equipment for warranty claims and damages.

RG SPEED CONTROL DEVICES, Toronto, Canada (1996-1997)

Application/Sales Engineer
Supported sales group in motion control equipment, servomotors, VFDs, vector duty motors, and gear reducers. Helped
customers in the field and in a machine development process, troubleshoot automation systems electrically and
mechanically. Conducted technical seminars in servomotor technology and sizing concepts of motors and gear heads.
Provided engineering support on behalf of various manufacturers, including Yaskawa, Emerson, Hitachi, Saftronics,
Keyence, Teijin Seiki, Warner, KB, Dynapar and more. Managed stock equipment and sold various electric devices.
Negotiated with suppliers and managed domestic and international delivery. Projected sales and planned short-term
budgets.
