ROLE OF SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES IN THE PREVALENCE OF SERIOUS CRIMES

Revised Outline
Thesis: Social networking sites can be a potential base for criminals who can steal and change the personal
data of victuims and turn it into a financial opportunity as these sites can be accessed by anyone including
criminals.

I. Social media usage particularly social networking sites have been increased through the years.
A. Internet users continue to spend more time with social networking sites than any other type of

site.
Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are used by people who wants to

communicate with other people and share their thoughts in mind through the internet.
II. Social networking sites is now also used by people to do crime.
A. Social networking sites is being used by so many in the society, including criminals.
B. Criminals are now adapting their skill set to the ever-changing landscape of the internet.
III. Crimes in social networking sites are continually increasing.
A. Cybercrimes like hacking, malware, and identity theft are now frequently made in social
networking sites.
B. The prevalence of cybercrimes is rising up due to the increase of social networking sites usage
and the advance in technology used by criminals.
Conclusion: Social networking sites can be used by anyone in the world. It is still up to us how to ensure
our safety on browsing social media sites.
