The Differences of Dialect in Lamongan; between Kalitengah and

Pacirans Language Based On Words

Introduction
Peoples attitude toward a language are different, it is known as variety of language.
People should have different accent and dialect even though they speak in the same
language, such as Javanese Language. Where accent refers to the sound a speaker makes,
and dialect covers the word choices. The difference between one accent and dialect can be
shown when we compare one speaker to another speaker in other region, and this issue also
associated with the geographic distribution.
(Wardaugh 2002: 43-49) distinguishes dialect into two types: regional dialect and
social dialect. Regional dialect is the distinctive variety of local colorings in the language
which we notice as we move from one location to another. On the other hand, social dialect
refers to differences in speech associated with the various social groups or classes. Thus,
regional dialects are geographically based, while social dialects originate among social
groups and are related to a variety factor, the principal ones apparently being social class,
religion, and ethnicity (Wardaugh, 2002:49). In this study, the author focuses more on the
dialect geography which consequently relates to geography of certain place and also
boundaries of three main regions. Dialect geography is the term used to describe attempts
made to map the distributions of various linguistic features so as to show their geographical
provenance (Wardhaugh, 2002: 45).
Lamongan's Javanese dialect is interesting and unique to be analyzed because there
are different sound and languages of the same word between Kalitengah's dialect and
Paciran's dialects if it is compared with Javanese dictionaries. Something that makes
Lamongan's Javanese dialect is interesting and unique to be analyzed because there are
