An Introduction to your Nutrition Syllabus

Something Better Gods Original Diet

What is nutrition? How can I have that diet that promotes health.? Should I be a lacto-ovo
vegetarian or vegan? Why doesnt my doctor know these things? As you study this syllabus I pray
that you will see the beauty of Gods laws of health as a wonderful revelation of His love for
humanity. Our salvation comes from Christs sacrifice on Calvary alone. The Laws of Health
reveal a merciful God who desires His children to live an abundant, healthy, happy and joyous
life. Lets sit at His banqueting table and enjoy all that God has set before us looking forward to
the day when we break bread together with Him face to face.
Yours and His,

Definition of nutrition: The study of a properly balanced diet that

promotes health.
A report from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, August 1995, and updated statistics
from the World Health Organization, September 2000 states that:
Only 22 of the medical schools in the United States require one single course in nutrition with an
average of 20 class hours of instruction. One hundred (100) U.S. medical schools offer an elective
course in nutrition, but only 5% of the students choose to take them. Medical students who do
take nutrition are usually going to specialize in obstetrics, pediatrics or gerontology. If you are
pregnant, a child or elderly you have special nutritional needs, but what about the rest of us? You
must become educated in right principles and learn how to apply them in a practical way in your
own life.
The statistics in 2000 concluded that in the average Americans lifetime they would consume:
21 cows
14 pigs
12 sheep
900 chickens
1,000 lbs. fish or wild game
37,520 lbs. of dairy (milk) products
The Bible tells us that the average lifetime is three score and ten or 70 years old. If we divide
37, 520 by 70 = 536 lbs. of dairy products consumed annually for every man, woman and child
in the United States. In the last 100 years our sugar consumption has increased by 250%. You are
what you eat. In 1900, Americans chose from about 500 foods. Today, they choose from more
than 50,000 mostly refined foods. Some of our ignorance about nutrition does not manifest itself
until we reach our 60s or 70s. The diseases associated with our lifestyle in the United States today
are:
heart disease
cancer
strokes
diabetes
arthritis
obesity

osteoporosis
depression

In the Bible, Exodus, Chapter 15 and verse 26 says, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the
voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his
commandments, and keep all of his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I
have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
Archeologists will tell you that the diseases of Egypt were heart disease, cancer, diabetes,
malaria, bilharzias (schistozoma), osteoporosis, septic infections from dental caries (cavities and
abscesses), strokes and arthritis. They have even looked into the stomachs of the Pharaohs and
found out what they ate. They ate a refined diet that included finely ground flours, sugar, meat
and wine, and they generally ate all to excess!
In the year 2000, the World Health Organization ranked nations according to their
participation in health, wellness and prevention as follows:
# 1 France
# 2 Italy
# 3 Spain
# 4 Oman
# 5 Austria
# 6 Japan/Singapore
#11 Norway
#22 Columbia
#26 Saudi Arabia
#27 United Arab Emirates
#29 Morocco
#32 Australia
#33 Chile
#37 United States of America
Countries were ranked based on these five indicators:
1) Overall all levels of population health
2) Health inequalities within a population
3) Level of health system responsiveness (including patient satisfaction)
4) Economic distribution of responsiveness of the health care system
5) Distribution of health car costs within a population Who pays?
The United States currently ranks #1 in the world in being able to diagnose disease, but in
prevention they rank behind some developing countries. France is ranked as number one in
wellness because of their preventative, child and maternal wellness programs. Although many of
the French may eat cheese and drink wine, their diet is composed largely of fresh fruits and
vegetables as well as whole grains, with very little meat consumed. This diet is found throughout
the Mediterranean region where the top 3 countries in wellness are found. Something better is
definitely needed. God has asked us to listen to His voice and obey His commands and He will
heal us. We should eat for strength and health and not for appetite. We must study Gods original
plan for us.

According to Dr. Dennis Burkett, one of the most important discoveries of the 20th century was that diet and
lifestyle influences our health and in many cases healthy changes in lifestyle can prevent and reverse the
disease process. The Adventist Health Study # 1 proved this connection for the first time in 1976. Currently
Loma Linda University is conducting the 2nd Adventist Health Study and the data compiled will continue to
provide valuable incite into the areas of health, wellness and longevity for years to come.
Seventh-day Adventists have had special light from heaven regarding health. The purpose of health reform
is to present our bodies a living sacrifice with minds that are able to hear the still, small voice of God
and obey that voice. Counsels on Diet and Foods is a compilation of Ellen Whites writings on the subject
written in chronological order and great effort has been made to avoid repetition but not all of it is
eliminated. Please note the date and references of quotations. Health reform has been progressive within the
church and much of this counsel will help you to make informed decisions about your health. Quotations

are referenced in numerological order from 1through to 822. The Nutrition Class Study sheets are
referenced by page number and paragraph number in order to accommodate different editions of Counsels
on Diet and Foods that may not have quotations organized numerically.

Nutrition According to the Gospel compiled from notes by Dr. Scott Grivas

Health Reform and the Three Angels Message
1 Cor. 3:16, 17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any
man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple
ye are.
RH 1902-May 27:001; CD 73:1
If Seventh-day Adventists practiced what they profess to believe, if they were sincere health
reformers, they would indeed be a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. And they
would show a far greater zeal for the salvation of those who are ignorant of the truth.
When properly conducted, the health work is an entering wedge, making a way for other
truths to reach the heart. When the third angels message is received in its fullness, health reform
will be given its place in the councils of the conference, in the work of the church, in the home, at
the table, and in all the household arrangements. Then the right arm will serve and protect the
body.
NBL - Letter 48, 1902; CD 38:1
We have been given the work of advancing health reform. The Lord desires His people to be
in harmony with one another. As you must know, we shall not leave the position in which, for
the last thirty-five years, the Lord has been bidding us stand. Beware how you place yourself in
opposition to the work of health reform. It will go forward; for it is the Lords means of
lessening the suffering in our world, and of purifying His people.
What about those who reject Gods light on diet?
Phil 3:19
Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who
mind earthly things.
Those who indulge their depraved appetites at the expense of health, and when their sin is shown
to them still do not wish to change and cling to hurtful practices that they love may one day have
it said of them by God to His angels, Ephraim is joined to idols: let him alone. Hosea 4:17
We must be careful that as we present health reform that we do it in such a way that we disarm
prejudice and do not become overbearing and argumentative. We expect some opposition of
reform from the world, but we also may meet opposition in our own churches. Isaiah spoke out
against a class of religious leaders in his day that opposed and rejected the light that God was
pleased to give His people.

Isaiah 56:10, 11
His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark;
sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have
enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one
for his own gain, from his quarter.
There is an expression that says, Let sleeping dogs lie. Jesus also spoke to a similar class who
opposed light when given to them, the Scribes and Pharisees.
Luke 11:52
Woe unto you, lawyers! For ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in
yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered.
What is Gods call to you and me?
6T 377:001
The work of educating in medical missionary lines is an advance step of great importance
in awakening man to his moral responsibilities. Had the ministers taken hold of this work in its
various departments in accordance with the light which God has given, there would have been a
most decided reformation in eating, drinking and dressing. But some have stood directly in the
way of the advance of health reform. They have held the people back by their indifference or
condemnatory remarks, or by pleasantries and jokes. They themselves and a large number of
others have been sufferers unto death, but all have not yet learned wisdom.
6T377:003
The church is making history. Every day is a battle and a march. On every side we are beset
by invisible foes, and we either conquer through the grace given us by God or we are conquered.
I urge that those who are taking a neutral position in regard to health reform be converted.
This light is precious, and the Lord gives me the message to urge that all who bear responsibilities
in any line in the work of God take heed that truth is in the ascendancy in the heart and life. Only
thus can any meet the temptations they are sure to encounter in the world.
6T378.002
The light that the Lord has given on this subject in His word is plain, and men will be tested and
tried in many ways to see if they will heed it. Every church, every family, needs to be
instructed in regard to Christian temperance. All should know how to eat and drink in
order to preserve health. We are amid the closing scenes of this worlds history, and there
should be harmonious action in the ranks of Sabbath keepers. Those who stand aloof from the
great work of instructing the people upon this question do not follow where the Great
Physician leads the way. If any man will come after Me, Christ said, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross, and follow Me. Matthew 16:24.
Proper methods of presenting health reform should avoid extremes.
2T377.002
Our views differ widely from those of the world in general. They are not popular. The masses
will reject any theory, however reasonable it may be, if it lays a restriction upon the
appetite. The taste is consulted instead of reason and health. All who leave the common track
of custom, and advocate reform, will be opposed, accounted mad, insane, radical, let them pursue
ever so consistent a course. But when men who advocate reform carry the matter to extremes, and
are inconsistent in their course of action, people are not to blame if they do become disgusted

vi

with the health reform. These extremists do more injury in few months than they can undo in
their whole lives. By them the entire theory of our faith is brought into disrepute, and they can
never bring those who witness such exhibitions of so-called health reform to think that there is
anything good in it. These men are doing a work which Satan loves to see go on.
In presenting the truth of health reform today, we must follow Jesus methods if we hope to be
successful. We must go no faster than the people can bear teaching wisely, with tact and by our
own example. Practice e-vegelism. Invite them to eat at your table.
Gen 33: 13, 14
And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and
herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, and all the flock
will die. Let my lord, I pray thee, pass over before his servant: and I will lead on softly,
according as the cattle goeth before me and the children be able to endure, until I come unto the
lord unto Seir.
CTBH 120.001
There are many who try to correct the lives of others by attacking what they regard as
wrong habits. They go to those whom they think in error, and point out their defects, but do not
seek to direct the mind to true principles. Such a course often comes far short of securing the
desired results. When we make it evident that we are trying to correct others, we too often arouse
their combativeness, and do more harm than good. And there is danger to the reprover also.
He who takes it upon himself to correct others, is likely to cultivate a habit of fault-finding, and
soon his whole interest will be in picking flaws and finding defects. Do not watch others, to
pick at their faults or expose their errors. Educate them to better habits by the power of
your own example.
CTBH 120.002
Let it ever be kept before the mind that the great object of hygienic reform is to secure the
highest possible development of mind and soul and body. All the laws of naturewhich are
the laws of Godare designed for our good. Obedience to them will promote our happiness in
this life, and will aid us in a preparation for the life to come.
ED 296 Something better is the watchword of true education!
CTBH.057.001
There is real common sense in health reform. People cannot all eat the same things. Some
articles of food that are wholesome and palatable to one person, may be hurtful to another. Some
cannot use milk, while others can subsist upon it. For some, dried beans and peas are wholesome,
while others cannot digest them. Some stomachs have become so sensitive that they cannot make
use of the coarser kind of graham flour. So it is impossible to make an unvarying rule by
which to regulate every ones dietetic habits.
CTBH 121.003
Much of the prejudice that prevents, the truth of the third angels message from reaching the
hearts of the people, might be removed if more attention were given to health reform. When
people become interested in this subject, the way is often prepared for the entrance of other
truths. If they see that we are intelligent with regard to health, they will be more ready to
believe that we are sound in Bible doctrines.
6T 378.003

vii

The Lord has presented before me that many, many will be rescued from physical, mental, and
moral degeneracy through the practical influence of health reform. Health talks will be given,
publications will be multiplied. The principles of health reform will be received with favor, and
many will be enlightened. The influences that are associated with health reform will commend it
to the judgment of all who want light, and they will advance step by step to receive the special
truths for this time. Thus truth and righteousness will meet together.
Proverbs 4:18
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.

The Gospel According to Nutrition

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
Exodus 20:19, 20
And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us,
lest we die. And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his
fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
Deut 5:29
O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my
commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
Jesus knocks at the door but we make him wait or we dont want to get up and let him in.
The scriptures tell us that Jesus hungers for fellowship with His people. What is your answer to
Him?
Rev 3:20
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any hear my voice, and open the door, I will
come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
If we are to be a home for Jesus to dwell in, what kind of home of home are we offering? Do we
feed Jesus hunger? What kind of nurturing and nutrition do we provide Jesus with?
DA 191.001
Our Redeemer thirsts for recognition. He hungers for the sympathy and love of those
whom He has purchased with His own blood. He longs with inexpressible desire that they
should come to Him and have life. As the mother watches for the smile of recognition from her
little child, which tells of the dawning of intelligence, so does Christ watch for the expression of
grateful love, which shows that spiritual life is begun in the soul.
SC 100.001
The relations between God and each soul are as distinct and full as though there were not
another soul upon the earth to share His watchcare, not another soul for whom He gave His
beloved Son.
Jesus hungers for your recognition, sympathy, and love.

What does health reform have to do with the Three Angels Messages ?
Emphasis supplied
Volume 1, Testimonies for the Church, p. 486
The health reform, I was shown, is a apart of the third angels message and is just as closely
connected with it as are the arm and hand with the human body. I saw that we as a people must
make an advance move in this great work. Ministers and people must act in concert. Gods people
are not prepared for the loud cry of the third angel. They have a work to do for themselves
which they should not leave for God to do for them. He has left the work for them to do.
Counsels on Health, pp. 21, 22
To make natural law plain, and to urge obedience to it, is a work that accompanies the third
angels message . . . He designs that the subject shall be agitated and the public mind deeply
stirred to investigate it . . . He who cherishes the light which God has given him upon health
reform has an important aid in the work of becoming sanctified through the truth and fitted for
immortality.
Volume 3, Testimonies for the Church, p. 161
I was again shown that the health reform is one branch of the great work which is to fit a people
for the coming of the Lord. It is as closely connected with the third angels message as the hand
is with the body . . . Men and women cannot violate natural law by indulging depraved appetite
and lustful passions, and not violate the law of God. . . . To make plain natural law, and urge the
obedience of it, is the work that accomplishes the third angels message to prepare a people for
the coming of the Lord.
Volume 6, Testimonies for the Church, p. 267
Combine medical missionary work with the proclamation of the third angels message. Make
regular, organized efforts to lift the church members out of the dead level in which they have been
for years. Send out into the churches workers who will live the principles of health reform.
Let those be sent who can see the necessity of self-denial in appetite, or they will be a snare to the
church. See if the breath of life will not then come into our churches.
Volume 6, Testimonies for the Church, p. 112
As we near the close of time, we must rise higher and still higher upon the question of health
reform and Christian temperance, presenting it in a more positive and decided manner. We must
strive continually to educate the people, not only by our words but by our practice.
To summarize, never cheat the stomach out of that which health demands and never abuse it
by placing a load it should not bear, but exercise and cultivate self-control. These two
principles are well stated and beautifully blended in a harmonious balance in the following
scripture passages.
Phil 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Isaiah 55:2 hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul
delight itself in fatness.

This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man eat thereof, and not die. I am the
living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever:
and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
What will be your choice? God asks you to turn and live.

The China Study

January 2005

T. Colin Campbell
Cornell University

The science is clear. The results are unmistakable. Change your diet and dramatically
reduce your risk of cancer, heart disease, diabetes and obesity.i
America spends more per capita on health care than any other country in the world, but only 1%
is spent on wellness and prevention
2/3 rd of Americans are overweight
15 million Americans are diabetics
Heart disease kills at the same rate as it did 30 years ago
War on cancer initiated in the 1970s is a failure
of all Americans have a health problem that requires prescription medications each
week
> 100 million Americans have high cholesterol
1/3 of American children are overweight or at risk for obesity
More children are diagnosed as diabetics (largest new group between 12-14 years)
Children take more prescription drugs than ever before
It all comes down to three (3) issues:
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
Recently a 243 page magazine titled Family Doctor: Our Essential Guide to Health and Well
Being, published by the American Academy of Family Physicians was sent free to all 50,000
family doctors in the United States in 2004. It was full of advertisements from McDonalds, Dr.
Pepper, chocolate pudding and Oreos. National Geo Kids is a publication for kids under 6 years
produced by the National Geographic Society and is full of ads for Twinkies, M & M s, Frosted
Flakes, Fruit Loops, Hostess cupcakes, and Jello pudding sticks. Scientists and food activists at
Yale University have called this a toxic food environment.
Confusing Health Information
Should you buy organic to avoid pesticide exposure?
Are environmental chemicals a primary cause of cancer?
Is your health predetermined by your genes?
Do carbohydrates really make you fat?
What vitamins, if any, should you be taking?
Should you be concerned about total fat consumption, or just trans fats?
Do you need foods fortified with extra fiber?
Should you eat fish?
Will eating soy foods prevent heart disease?
Most of us are unsure of the answers to these questions.

Research shows the link between nutrition and health, but real science is buried under all of this
irrelevant or harmful and untrue junk science like sensational diets, etc. A new framework to
understand nutrition, health and wellness eliminates the confusion and helps to prevent and treat
disease. The Bible calls this the more abundant life.
T. Colin Campbell for the past 50 years has worked at the highest levels designing and directing
large research projects, deciding which research gets funded, and translating scientific research
into national expert panel reports.
Many of our ideas about health and wellness and disease are not based on solid facts. Scientific
data reveals that:
Synthetic chemicals in the environment and food chain cause problems but are not the
main cause of cancer.
Genes are not the most important factors in the 10 leading causes of death.
Hope that the Genome Project will lead to drugs that can cure disease overlooks simpler
solutions.
Obsessively controlling the intake of any one nutrient, i.e. carbohydrates, fat, cholesterol,
omega-3 fatty acids, will not result in long term health.
Vitamin and nutrient supplements do not give long term protection from disease.
Drugs and surgery do not cure the diseases that kill most Americans.
Your doctor probably does not know what you need for optimal health.
What is the solution? Redefine what is good nutrition.
The China Study is the culmination of 40 years of biomedical research and a 27 year lab
program that showed that eating right can save your life. The China Study uses more than 750
references most of which are primary sources.
Some findings of the China Study show that:
Dietary changes can enable diabetic patients to go off of their medications.
Heart disease is reversible with diet alone.
Dairy foods increase the risk of prostate cancer significantly.
Antioxidants found in food increase mental function in old age.
A healthy diet can prevent kidney stones.
Diabetes Mellitus I in children is linked to infant feeding practices particularly
consumption of cows milk.
Good diet is the most powerful weapon against disease and sickness.
When Campbell was a graduate student of Professor Clive Mc Cay he kept rats lean and living
longer. When he was a MIT he studied the feed of chickens to try to find out why millions of
chickens died each year. He discovered a chemical, dioxin or 2,4,5 T also known as Agent
Orange, a defoliant used in Viet Nam, in the feed. As a faculty member at Virginia Tech he was
involved in an international project that studied malnourished children in the Philippines. The
findings were astounding.
High incidence of liver cancer among Filipino children
Caused by the ingestion of aflatoxins or mold toxins found in peanuts and corn
USAID funded a project which ran 110 educational centers around the country. Their
goal was to make sure that these children got as much protein as possible. Severe

xiv

malnutrition (marasmus and kwashiorkor/PEM) was thought to be caused by a

deficiency of protein.
The study found that the children who ate the most protein also had the highest liver
cancer. These children were mostly from the wealthy families.
Highest protein consumption led to the highest incidence of liver cancer.

A study done in India divided rats into two groups:

Group 1 was given aflatoxin + 20% protein diet (typical American consumption)
100% of Group 1 developed cancer
Group 2 was given the same amount of aflatoxin + 5% protein (typical vegan)
100% of Group 2 did not develop cancer
Nutrition overcame the chemical carcinogens and prevented the development of cancer.
The study and questioning of an animal based protein diet was a defining moment for Campbell.
He was now considered a heretic in many circles even though the facts were obtained using
good science. This lead him to start an in depth program to investigate and document the role of
nutrition and in particular, protein and its role in the development of cancer. This study was:

Cautious in hypothesis
Rigorous in methodology
Conservative in interpretation of findings

He studied the biochemistry of cancer formation and specifically, How might proteins
promote cancer? This research was funded for 27 years by the National Institute of Health
(NIH), the American Cancer Society, and the American Institute for Cancer Research.
Some of the results of the China Study:

Low protein diets inhibit the initiation of cancer caused by aflatoxins

Low protein diets blocked subsequent cancer growth (once initiation was completed)
Effects of aflatoxin (highly carcinogenic chemical) was rendered insignificant by a low
protein diet
Low protein diet inhibited the initiation of cancer by aflatoxin regardless of how much
was given to the rats. The amounts of aflatoxin were comparable to the amounts normally
consumed by humans.

Number 1 finding: Dietary proteins effect was so powerful that the cancer growth
could be turned on and off by changing the level of protein consumed.
Number 2 finding: Not all proteins had the same effect.
What protein consistently and strongly promotes cancer?
Casein 87% of the cows milk proteins are casein. Casein promotes all stages of the cancer
process.
What about soy and wheat proteins?
The safe proteins are plant based.

The China Study was the most comprehensive study done to date on the effects of diet, lifestyle
and disease and was jointly conducted with:
Cornell University
Oxford University
Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine
Surveyed vast range of disease and diet and lifestyle factors in rural China and
Taiwan
Produced more than 8,000 statistically important associations with dietary factors and
disease
Most prominent finding was that people who ate the most animal based foods had the
most chronic disease
Even small intakes of animal foods were associated with adverse effects
People who ate plant-based foods were the healthiest
Heart disease, diabetes, and obesity can be reversed with healthy diet
Cancer, autoimmune diseases, bone and kidney health, vision and brain disorders
associated with old age (like cognitive dysfunction and Alzheimers) are influenced
by our diet
Diet that reverses these diseases is a whole plant diet
Why are we still confused? Misinformation
He who does not know food, how can he understand the diseases of man?
Hippocrates, Father of modern medicine, 460-357 BC
American Cancer Society says that:
47% U.S. males are at risk of developing cancer in their lifetime
38% of U.S. females are at risk of developing cancer in their lifetime
Americans rate of mortality is high same cancer death rate per 100,000
of the population as in 1972-1974 and 1992-1994 no improvement despite all of the
money given to cancer research.
National Center for Health Statistics states that:
Almost 1/3 adults > 20 years old are obese
Percentage of the population that are considered obese:
15%
22%
30%
1976-1980
1988-1994
1999-2000
You are considered obese if you exceed your ideal body weight by 30%.

Cancer, obesity and diabetes are all epidemic in America.
1 out of 13 American now has diabetes
Consequences of diabetes - blindness, limb amputation, cardiovascular disease, kidney disease and premature
death
Diabetes and obesity are symptoms of poor general health. They usually are precede deeper more serious health problems
such as:
Heart disease
Cancer
Stroke
Diabetes among people who are in their 30s has increased 70% in less than ten years. The percentage of obese people has
doubled in the past thirty years.

Diabetes Statistics
Percentage of Increase in Incidence of Diabetes from 1990 to 1998
Age 30-39 (70%)
Age 40-49 (40%)
Age 50-59 (31%)
Percentage of diabetics who are unaware of their illness:

34%

Diabetes Outcomes:
Heart disease and stroke, blindness, kidney disease, nervous system disorders, dental disease and limb amputation. Annual
economic cost of diabetes: $98 billion. Percentage of money spent on preventive health care in 2000: 1%

60 Million Americans suffer from cardiovascular disease/

A healthy diet could reverse most of this cardiovascular disease.
Number 1 killer in America is heart disease.
Number 2 killer in America is cancer.
Number 3 killer in America is from complications, errors or drug reactions in our health care system.
80% of our disease is lifestyle related.

Barbara Starfield, M.D. recently published an article in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) stating
that physician error, medication error, and adverse effects from drugs or surgery kill
225,400 people per year. Our health care system is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
Prevention is the key to health and wellness. Make a decision today to live more healthfully. Your life may depend
upon it.
