Text: Business Essentials, Ebert/Griffin 9th Edition
Room: Simon Auditorium
Time: Monday 6:30 9:20 PM
The Introduction to Business Management course is intended to
introduce you to a wide array of business topics; my goal will be to
expose you to each of these and the underlying business disciplines.
Because of the objective of the class, we will be moving at a very quick
pace. As a result, it is critical that you read each chapter(s) in advance
of each class.
This course is taught similar to graduate level courses; i.e. the class is
less lecture based. We will leverage cases, group debates, and current
event discussions to examine the concepts that are described in the
book.
HOMEWORK:
Due to the rapid pace of the class and the logistics of managing the
grading of so many assignments, it is not possible to hand in
assignments late. We will use the Blackboard sight to hand in all
homework assignments so please make sure that you are capable of
sending soft copies to the blackboard site for the class.
NOTE:
Homework due on dates when we dont have class must be
submitted by 11:59 PM
Homework due on dates when we have class must be
submitted by 5:30 PM
SRATEGIC PLAN:
In teams, a strategic plan for a start-up company will be developed.
The strategic plan will be due at the end of the semester and will
require each team to leverage the business concepts that you have
been exposed to in the course. More details to come on this course
assignment.
QUIZZES:
Expect a quiz for every chapter in the book so please come prepared.
There are no make-up possibilities for quizzes unless I am alerted and
agree to your circumstances. Class participation is an important
element of the course; those that participate in class or groups that
win in case discussions may receive points toward a given chapter

quiz. This practice is to reward those that enhance the class discussion,
learning and overall environment.
EXAMS:
Exams are listed as part of the Schedule of Assignments table; it is
generally not possible to make-up an exam, so plan accordingly. For
each exam, you may bring one, handwritten 8X11 sheet of paper
with notes written on both front and back of the sheet.
