This test procedure specifies a method for determination of Reichert Meissl and
Polenske Value in Ghee, AMF and Butter Oil.
Procedure:
Key Points for test
The method does not determine the total quantities of volatile fatty
acids, soluble and insoluble in water, present in combination in fat. The
amount of these acids actually determined by the process are
dependent on strict adherence to the dimensions of the appratus and
the details of the procedure.

Accuracy of the Method
Reichert-Meissl Value The maximum deviation between duplicate
determination shall not exceed 0.5 units.
Polenske Value The maximum deviations between duplicate
determinations shall not exceed 0.3 units.
