Demand Grows for ‘Nearly New’ Striebig Vertical Panel Saws

The recession has led to an increase in used vertical panel saws for sale and an
increase in business for T.M Machinery Sales who refurbish vertical panel saws.

Leicester UK, January 21, 2010 -- T.M. Machinery Sales, sole UK agent for the
Striebig range of vertical panel saws, reports an increase in demand for ‘nearly
new’ used machines as customers look to cut costs in the economic downturn.

Matt Pearce, T. M’s sales director, said: “Due to the recession we have a far
higher number than usual of used vertical panel saws for sale, mainly due to
companies going bust. This works to the advantages of those seeking a bargain.

“A particular feature of the current situation is that many of the used machines
we are selling are younger models, sometimes just a couple of years old. You would
not normally expect Striebig machines less than 10-years-old to be available in
this way.”

The space-saving, Swiss-built saws are extremely long-lasting and are commonly
found in operation after more than 25 years’ use. “It’s because of their renowned
durability that they are the most sought after second-hand machine of their type,”
said Matt Pearce.
Westframe, designers and manufacturers of bespoke timber frame homes, bought a
two-year-old Striebig Control model last year.

General Manager David Thacker said: “It replaced an old and overworked saw which
was not very reliable or robust enough for the job of cutting OSB and plywood
sheets.

“T.M. supplied us with a totally reconditioned machine that had around only 35
hours on the clock. It cost us 30% less than a brand new model, is highly accurate
and should last us a very long time.”

Despite usually specifying new equipment, interior display and shop fitting
specialist IDESS Retail Ltd has bought a three-year-old Striebig Control model to
size standard and laminated MDF panels and chipboard.

Production manager Tim Harper explained: “We normally only buy new machinery but
we urgently needed a vertical panel saw to handle small batch work, to work
alongside a beam saw. T.M. had a reconditioned model in stock available for
immediate delivery, which was in immaculate condition, and we decided to go for
it.

“I don’t regret buying second hand on this occasion as the saw is practically
indistinguishable from a brand new model – and we saved money in the process.”

Every used Striebig saw is thoroughly refurbished by T.M. engineers before going
on sale and comes with a 6-month parts and labour warranty.

Accurate to 0.1mm with unmatched cut quality, they come with guarding, braking,
noise control and dust extraction that surpasses current European health and
safety legislation. All machines have conveniently and logically grouped controls,
and are evenly balanced and smooth running with only minimal physical effort
required by the operator.
They are suitable for cutting practically all sheet materials, such as wood-based
panels, plaster board, plastics and aluminium panels.
T.M. Machinery has over two decades of unrivalled expertise in delivering both a
sales and after-sales service. It provides a next-day, spare parts delivery from
vast UK-based stocks, with spares available for all Striebig machines built since
1968.
