Walk with me.

First thing in the morning when the alarm goes off I look out of the window. How is the light. Is it
any good? Is it foggy? Will there be sun rays? I often look at the windows of my car to see if there
is any condensation on it and if the air is misty and moisture, but often I intuitively know I just

there is
no such
thing as
a perfect
spot

HAVE to go. A bit hurried I step into my car or jump on my bike and hope the forest got some nice
surprises for me.

I strap my camera bag on my shoulders. No tripod, I dont like it, it limits me. Fortunately they
make excellent cameras today, which can shoot at high ISO and still produce high quality images.

Today it seems I am lucky. I can spot the first rays and they are nearly horizontal. Later on, the
sun will get up higher in the sky and the air will start to warm up. Will the intensity of the rays
increase or is the weather going to change and is it all over?

It will not be the first time thats happened. Shall I wait here? Is this the perfect spot? I start to
get a bit restless and I have to tell myself once again there is no such thing as a perfect spot and
its all beyond my control. I feel at ease and start walking again with the knowledge that whatever
comes will come.

Its six oclock in the morning. The scent of the forest. The freshness of a new beginning. My
favorite part of the day, because the light is still soft and friendly and its all quiet given a bird or
two. Serenity!

Beautiful trees and the variety of colors, singing birds, whispering leaves and rays of light making
their way through the foliage. The smell of the forest gives me butterflies. I feel so relaxed and I
become one with the surroundings. These are the moments where I realize I had to get up so early.
I feel my footsteps and every step feels like nothing is needed anymore. Complete!

Suddenly I feel something dangling against my flanks and I see its my camera. Oh, ...yes.

I am a mood
shooter

How do I frame so much beauty? How do I catch my experience with a camera? Over the years
I noticed my first and last image of a series are often the best. Maybe other photographers
recognize this too? Anyway, thats the case with me. The first moment I am still open-minded, then
I start doing my best and when I am convinced this is really going to be my last and best image, it
often happens to be nearly the exact same as the first one.

Sometimes I like to stay for a longer period of time at the same spot. Not shooting, just looking. It
will take some time, but eventually a new way of looking starts to appear and the compositions
will be different too. I find that a very exciting process.

People often ask me for tips. First of all I like to mention that I am not a photographer. Dont get me
wrong, I do take pictures quite well, but I am not a trained or educated photographer. Not too much
technical stuff for me, I am a mood shooter. If I must label myself I rather choose to be an artist.
An artist with a camera.

Most important is having fun. Result comes second. Like the Buddha said: Success is
not the key to happiness, happiness is the key to success! If you love what youre doing
you will be successful! Shoot everything you like, experiment, enjoy. We are in
a digital age now, you cant take too many images. Afterwards you can throw everything
away you dont like. Dont worry about your equipment either. Those things will come later.

catching
rays of
light

Start in your direct surroundings, the places you know best. When youre uncertain about how
to set your camera, just take images in different settings, esp. when you found a magic spot. In
that way there will always be a good one in your series. Of course this is easier for landscape
photography instead of sports where you usually get only one change.

Often I have been asked how I catch sun rays and make them look the way they look. First of all
the weather conditions have to be perfect, moisture! It has to be early in the morning, not too
early otherwise the rays are too horizontal and are not bright enough. Try to walk towards the sun
and notice the bright spots on the forest floor. While shooting, keep the sun blocked by a tree
or branches. Rather use over exposure than under exposure and try different exposures. Even
though the sun rays appear to be bright its still a forest and it could be pretty dark, so keep an
eye on your ISO. If its too high you better use a tripod.

One thing I have learned while editing is better leave the sun rays untouched. Editing makes them
less attractive and less real. However there are some tools within the NIK efex pro software, like
sunlight and glow that will make them look soft and dreamy. A side effect will be a reduction of
the sharpness of your image.

I work with the following software programs in

Lars photographic art is an inspiration. One cannot help but be
immersed into each image with the fascination of a child. Lars enables
the viewer to step into the scene... feel the surrounding landscape
as a soft feather on silken skin. The contrasts and light bring forth
impeccable beauty captured as a timeless reminder of a location
once visited.

Landscape
My first time, it sounded a phrase over and over again in my head ...
I came as rain falling throughout the world in countless ways, for
those who are ready to receive S,A,W. Another time I found that if I
concentrated on it could easily leave my mind and enter a paradise
within reach ... what gift for any day! Whenever a new image comes
to me, my heart was born wings and fly up to Mother Nature ... is there
anything more beautiful on Earth?
Thanks so much for such beautiful moments

If you would like a high resolution image for personal needs, like printing and framing it yourself, a non
commercial lincense would be the right one for you.
When you want an image for a bookcover or printing postcards, a commercial license will probably be
the right one. Not sure what kind of license you need? Please email me.

Most of my images are available for licensing.

Some of my images are available at Trevillion images .
If so I can bring you in contact.
