Personal Leadership second

assignment

Task 1:

These notes must contain and evaluate the influence caused on the very
important sector of management and leadership by the organisations
aims, core values and environment.

The internal environment of an organisation is developed by the actions or the

strategies of the leadership which can be founder of the company of the
executive level management. The role of the owner is significant factor in
determining the culture of the organisation because it is the founder who designs
the core values and other factors which run the organisation for years to come.
This culture developed by the founder might be good sometimes but on the
other hand it can have adverse effect on the organisation. There are different
examples where companys cultural values lasts for years even after the death of
the founder of the company. In that case the top level management is scared to
try new ideas because these new ideas are always against the conventional
ones. Sometimes it can take years to change the management and to try a new
idea and to change the organisational culture. The organisational values set by
the founder and style of management developed by the founders is applied
throughout the companys management and it only helps to recruit new staff
with the same ideas and values. This makes the culture or the environment of an
organisation more and more alike. This also helps in the efficient service delivery
and creates sort of common and friendly environment for the employees. This
fact can be elaborated by the simple example that a common language is used
by the employees if they share the same belief and ideas and this helps
management to manage the organisation in a better and easy way. In the same
way this bond within the employees helps them to work efficiently and make the
organisation progress and succeed.
The key role and duty of the top level leadership is to develop and keep the core
values of the organisation, this helps in achieving the desired results. The main
role of the leadership is to develop a nice environment for the employees to
work.
By the developing a nice environment sets the tone and it sets a standard to
achieve tasks. This will help in developing the attitude and it will also help in
determining the line of action for the future responsibilities. According to Handy
(1986) that the two very important of the good organisational environment are
the role and duties, He describes that the division of the culture of various
companies helps to understand a lot better about the organisation itself. Thats

why it is one of the difficult tasks to develop the culture for an organisation and
then to maintain that very same culture is also very important task. Good
cultural values can be very helpful in giving motives to the employees to love
their job and form a sort of linkage between companys employees. The culture
can be classified as a basic building block of an organisation. As stated by
Robbins (1989) that the culture of an organisation can be defined as follows:
The organisational culture helps in distinguishing between two
organisation based on their cultural values.
These commonly shared values or culture provides uniformity.

It stables the public relations and employees feel more secure within the
organisation and they stay together.
Cultural values tend to provide an organisation with some sort of
mechanism that defines the employees approach to the tasks.
It also helps in assessing the key skills of the executives to be checked and
monitored, which helps in obtaining the goals set by the organisation.
Great cultural values help in separating a great leader from an ordinary
leader and it results in increased efficiency and better service delivery
because it is the top leadership which will develop the mechanism to
deliver the services provided by the company.
The commonly used cultural values help in getting maximum out of
employees because they work under the guidelines provided by the
leadership. This also creates some sorts of co-ordination within the
organisation.

This helps the organisation of meet the everyday challenges because the
leadership which male it to the top level have some good attributes and
they provide the best possible solutions. These leaders help an
organisation to achieve its objectives.
These great leaders give creative ideas to the organisation and they
provide help in implementing these innovative ideas and plan better
strategies. This creates successful organisations. Some educational
courses may help in becoming a great leader by acquiring the required
skills and competencies.
To become a successful leader one can get a degree which is designed to
meet the personal objectives and standards set by the industry. Leaders
with the degree tend to better at the workplace and the key skills are
developed and enhanced during the degree. This helps in making a
successful organisation.
These degree courses help a lot to stand out in this competitive job
market. This presents them with greater number of opportunities and
proves a breakthrough in the career of a leader in the desired market and
industry. This also helps the organisation in one way or the other.

Task 2:
This part of the report gives detailed assessment of personal skills and
development strategy.
A) Assessment of personal skills and development plan:

The procedure of development of an individual is continuous process and it lasts

through out the life of a great leader. As described by Henry Ford that the
moment one stops learning they become old and if he continues this process of
learning he will be considered as a young. To have a young and fresh mind the
process of learning must continue. Human being change throughout their lives
and this happens in the result of the experiences which we have through living
our lives. Humans always have a decision to make whether they want to do
something in life or they just want to sit and watch life unfolds itself. If the path
of courage is chosen then one can get whatever he wants in life
The important factor of personal development is the quality to assess oneself.
According to Daniel Goleman (1997), that get an amazing outcome from
someone he must know the basic aspect about himself and that is of selfawareness. As a leader to develop self awareness and other key skills are interconnected with being good at work and giving your 100%. One of the studies
shows that the success at the top level of any organisation is related to
emotional intelligence as compared to other skills such as technical skills. To be
at the top of yourself one must avail the opportunities more regularly. Always get
to do something and build a team of people who have the same ideas and
passion for work as you. To be a great and successful leader one must live by this
advice and must be honest and hardworking. A great leader is always ready to
work and he is always surrounded by the people of same passion and attitude
towards the work. So tend to work well within the challenging conditions and he
lives by the organisational values and cultures.
For an organisation to become successful it must make sure that its
management has the key skill of leader ship and they are a source of inspiration
to other employees in the organisation. They must also deliver effective and
efficient services.

There should be good communication within the team on the regular

basis.

Leader should make sure that each and every person in the team is
participating and there is no discrimination within the team.

He should listen to the ideas of others.

He should be able to extract maximum out of the team.

He should be able to produce good results.

His pattern of working should be organised and pre-planned.

It is essential for an organisation to develop and make progress that it should

provide every chance to develop and enhance the key skills, attributes and
knowledge of its leaders, so that they can perform their jobs and design
innovative ideas to ensure that efficient and effective team work is going on
within the organisation.
One of the basic qualities of the leaders is that they focus on the service. Great
leaders posses this skill of contributing towards the organisation they work for
and for its people. On the other hand if a leader cannot provide the service then

he is not recognised as a good leader and lacks this key skill of leadership. There
is a mistaken idea that a leader is above all and he should get served by the
employees and organisation, this is absolutely wrong idea. People with this idea
want to become leaders because they think being a leader will help them get
good incentives and gain a high status within the society. While as we all know
that leadership is way different to this. It is actually an opportunity to provide
your services for the better of the society and organisation. The modern idea of
servant leader are presented by Robert K (1970), otherwise the idea that a
leader is the one who contributes towards an organisation is very old and it can
be found in old civilisations.

Task 3:
A) Personal improvement of leadership and management skills:
It is required to recognize and analyze the goals of personal and as well as
organizational and also for the intention of completing these goals, the
necessary competences are also observed and explained in this activity. Dealing
with the contraction of SMART, the individual and organizational objectives
should be precise, assessable, attainable, pragmatic and bounding within given
time frame. The summary is that the objectives set by individual must be
attainable and of pragmatic approach.
The individual goals which are set for the personal development are given below:

Completion of the development programme

To reach a respectable position in an organisation within next couple of
years
To make the organisation one of the very best in market in next coming 5
years or so.

Task 4:
It is vital to learn from the progress that has been made. This will help in devising
more strategies for individual progress. The following section of the report will
analyse the strategies for personal development:

Re-evaluation of the personal development strategy versus the aims

Evaluation of the efficiency of personal development, leadership and
management skills plan.
Analysis of the sectors for further progress and renewal of the strategies.

For personal and professional development one of the key sectors is Learning
sector, which is very significant for the individual development. A personal
development plan is very important as it can be very helpful to gain these skills
which are very essentials for an individuals personal development. Another way
to look at weak points is to get some sort of feedback from the friends and coworkers. This can be really helpful to work on the skills for personal development
and this can be observed on the workplace. Going to social events and
professional seminars can be helpful as well to gain the necessary skills. To
achieve the desired results a development plan can be very helpful as it shows
the clear steps to follow and work towards gaining these essential skills. The plan
can also help in maintaining the record of the progress and change some things
along if it is not working. It can be some sort of road map towards the objectives.
Strengthening the skills and developing new attributes and skills and achieving
the sense of accomplishment can also be very helpful in personal development
and also to grab the opportunities regularly for the personal development is also
very important. All of these factors can be very helpful.

Conclusion:
According to the personal development plan it should be clear and confident that
the right path is chosen and the shortcomings are also met and dealt with. The
personal weaknesses must be overcome with the slight help from internal and
external sources these sources should help to work on the required field.
Similarly strong attributes could be utilized to tackle the deficiencies. A leader or
ideal for personal development should be on the right path and he must be the
one to whom the followers can look up to. By followers it meant that the people
who want to reach the managerial position in any organisation.
