WORK CULTURE

Work Culture of Oracle is exciting, challenging and fulfilling. It provides a


diversity of opportunities to its employees.

1. Learning Experience
1. New hires undergo 4 to 5 days of induction and boot camp program to
help them get well versed with the culture of the firm, wherein
employees are exposed to the types of business units, clubs, events
etc which exists in Oracle.
2. New hires especially college graduates undergo a month or two of
classroom training in Oracle University.
3. Several Online and classroom training programs keep on happening
from time to time for the employees.
4. Oracle also provides Oracle certification program

2. Flexible Timing:
1. An employee has to work for 40 hours in a week. An employee is free to
take leave on weekday and compensate it by working on weekends.
2. Employees are given 12 sick/casual leaves and 15 vacation leaves.
3. They have work from Home facility for employee. Employee are given free
laptops and Vpn connection to connect to Oracle environment.

3. Employee engagement Program


1. Go Plus
This is an outdoor HR training program mandatory for all Oracle employee. In this program
they convey 10 business values of Oracle thorough outdoor activity and games.

2. Ora Ovation(at Hyderabad Office, Cynergy at Bangalore)


It is a biannual, large scale fest at Oracle with the footfall of 5000
employees. It is a 7 days event with lot of activities, fun games, events like
dance, singing, fashion show and a celebrity night along with a lot of
prizes to take home. Employees family are also invited to participate in
the event.
3. OraFora
There is an event called OraFora..it is organised to accumulate funds for
different NGOs.

Fun week
Different Units of oracle celebrate a fun week every month. It involves a
lot of fun activities and recreation for the employees.

5. Sports league and Gym

Employees are given access to Oracles own gymnasium and other sports
facility at oracle like Table Tennis, Snooker, Cricket, Basketball etc. Several
tournaments are held for the employee for them not to lose their interest
in sports and keep them active along with their daily work. Several
Football, cricket leagues and basketball tournament keep on happening
throughout the year
6. Day Outing
Manager takes their team for a one day full outing to some distant resort
for the refreshment of employees.

4. Egalitarian culture
There is an egalitarian culture at Oracle, be it M5 level manager from IIM
or C1 level College graduate, every one calls each with their names so
that there is no feeling of big or small in the company

Critics:
Recruitment & Selection:
Recruitment procedure is good because an individual team go for project hiring. They know their
requirements better and select right candidates. Diff interview rounds takes by various people from
engineer and management level.

Rewards and Recognition


Appraisal is totally performance based, where in employees are rated on a scale
of 1 to 5. Rating is totally dependent upon the manager. It is does not have clearly
defined appraisal process, If bias comes in you might lose chances of promotion even after your good
work.
Career Advancement:

Many employees mention that the growth opportunities are less at Oracle.
People are ramped up to work on the same technology throughout their tenure.
And after gaining a year of experience or two, consideration for promotion and
hike are very less. (This is based on survey conducted at offices in India.)

Organisation Hierarchy

With Oracle Human Resources, you can define multilevel organization


hierarchies, with a business group at the top of each hierarchy. When you
define new organizations, they are automatically assigned to the business
group associated with your current session. Each organization is part of a
business group. The business group is usually the top box on an enterprise
organization chart. The business group is the largest organization unit you
set up in Human Resources to represent your enterprises as an employer.
