OBJECTIVES
General:
After our three-days of clinical exposure at the Surgery East Ward of Southern
Philippines Medical Center, the group aims to make a comprehensive case study on our patient
and her condition. The group aims to assess, understand and manage the patient who was
diagnosed with Fibrothorax secondary to Pulmonary Tuberculosis.
Specific:
Cognitive:
Discuss the anatomy and physiology of the body systems involved in our case study.
Evaluate the present developmental stage of our patient according to the developmental
theories of Lawrence Kohlberg, Erik Erikson, and Robert Havighurst.
Correlate the nursing care plan that is appropriate for the patient to the Nursing theories
of Lydia Hall, Ida Orlando and Virginia Henderson
Rationalize the signs and symptoms associated with Fibrothorax secondary to Pulmonary
Tuberculosis.
Compare and contrast significant laboratory results of the patient that will serve as our
baseline comparison of the progress of the disease and its treatment.
Study and discuss the drugs that were prescribed to our patient.
Psychomotor:
To develop therapeutic communication and interaction with the patient and his significant
others.
Perform a thorough physical assessment which will serve as our baseline data for creating
a nursing care plan
Conduct a nurse- patient interview during the data gathering phase to obtain organized
health history.
Provide adequate nursing care to the patient for better outcome of the therapy undergone
by our patient and to prevent unnecessary errors.
Affective:
Establish a trusting relationship with our patient and her family to gain necessary
information regarding the patients status.
Impart appropriate recommendations to the patient, her significant others and the student
nurses as a part of the nurses holistic care.
