Headmasters Corner
Thank you to Ms Case for organising such a fun Book Character Day. As always
there was a great turn out from the children so well done to all!
Congratulations to our swimmers who took part in the Thornbury swimarathon last
Friday. There is a detailed report later in this Tracker but I wanted to highlight not
only the childrens superb talent in the pool but what great ambassadors they were
on the day. The following day saw our children get to grips with Inter House Netball
and Football. From my very rough calculation we can safely say well done to all three houses as it appears that the
morning was a draw with Alexander winning the Football and coming third in the Netball; Churchill coming third in the
football but winning the Netball and Cunningham coming second in both!

If you are able to record the show or know anyone who can
do so please let Mrs Glanville know as soon as possible.
We would like to record both performances and be able to
offer it to parents either via a memory stick, Dropbox or
DVD. If you can help at all please get in touch as we are
sure it is going to be a wonderful
keepsake for all parents of children taking part.

JJs Row4Rob
JJ has now completed his year long row in
aid of Robert Camm an OT. He started on
1st March last year and finished last
Sunday. His original target was
1,400,000m but actually achieved
2,054,000m - amazing - further than
London -Naples! His best month was February when the 2million metres was in
sight and he rowed 323km (= Tockington
to Leeds) and suffered cramps, blisters,
calluses and
Thank you to all those who have already
supported him helping him to raise
11,200 so far. If you have not done so

SWIMMING NEWS
Congratulations to Harry Penwarden and Stephanie Taylor for completing their first length. George Bloomfield kept going
and swam 50ms! All the children from Year 1 to Year 8 are working on their stamina and all are improving! Badges and
Certificates will be issued at the end of term. All of Reception and Year 1 won Swimmer of the Week stickers for beating
their targets. A fantastic achievement by them all.
Thornbury Swimarathon:- Last Friday our Sharks and Dolphins battled hard in the relay races at Thornbury Leisure
Centre in aid of local Charities and as always, trying to beat their records!
The Sharks target was 157 lengths in 55 minutes and after a tough, fun and musical hour they secured 155.5 lengths;
until Alex Gooch's Gran noticed a mathematical error! After some negotiation, we finally secured 156.5 rounded to 157!
The sharks therefore equalled the record set last year. The attitiude of the team was fantastic and even when they [ Tom
Edwards, Olivia Campbell, Oliver Shutt, Abby Blackwell, Alex Gooch and Ellie Parker] thought they had been beaten by
the clock they were the first to congratulate the Dolphins, who smashed the record of 144 lengths with a startling
150. On the night, the Sharks and the Dolphins were the leading 2 teams by some 30 lengths at the 6.15pm session out
of 14 teams. The Dolphins made up of: Rachel Shutt, Iona Campbell, Jonathan Baguley; Ella Howard Robinson; Angus
Duncan and Katie Shutt [who thought she was spectating but found herself swimming.] swam with such determination.
A big thanks to parents for organising sponsorship; this year we appear to have raised over 450. Thank you too for the
cheers, silly hats and support; it was a fun evening!
Many of our year 8s have taken part every year and in the last 4 years the Edwards, Blackwell, Gooch, and Campbell
families have contributed 1000 or more! I shall miss them next year; many of them have been part of the event for so
long, they even know the playlist for the Castle school steel band! Wim A Way was going around my head ALL night! BH
