1. using too much hair spray can stunt growth.

contains phthalates, or plasticizers, that can act as hormone disruptors

(Travis Stork, CBSs The Doctors)

for an adult beauty contestant, it does not matter for them of using it too

2. High heels arent made for small feet.

When little pageant contestants wear heels, Stork say, it

unnecessarily pushes their weight forward.

Causing lower back pain and hindering proper development of the

feet.
In some cases, these girls are forced to continue wearing heels
outside of pageants ;
- their feet have grown in a way that makes wearing other kinds
of

shoes

very

uncomfortable.

ii.

For it can cause psychological problems (APA, 2007)

Aug 13, 2009) that child beauty pageant have put a lot of stress and

William Pinsof, a clinical psychologist and president of the Family
Institute at Northwestern University said, the children has to be a

certain way of being a little Barbie doll.

This can unleash a whole complex of destructive self-experiences
that can lead to eating disorders and all kinds of body distortions in

terms of body image.

Travelling, stress and competition are everyday aspects of an
adults life and therefore should not come into exicstence.

b.

Causes hypersexualization.

c.
i.

Danger of pedophiles.
Man or woman that opposes pedophiles is a pedophiliac. It is a
psychosexual disorder in which an adult has sexual fantasies about or
engages in sexual acts with a prepubescent child of the same or
opposite sex.
Its is a mental disorders defined by unusual fantasies.

ii.

Exposes the child cause them to being in the public eyes.

In every child beauty pageant competition, the organizer has set out

few regulation to be followed by the participant in order to win.

Some of the regulation requires them to wear exposes clothes such as
a swimsuit clothes for the sake of catching the attention of the

audience and the juries.

From this action, it puts the child into danger as there are some people

who is a pedophiliac.
As the cost from the being in the public eyes that leads to danger,

murder can possibly happen without we even know.

For example ; the murder of JoBenet Ramsey, a former child beauty
pageant.

iii.

The murder of JonBenet Ramsey is one of the major issues that child
beauty pageant exposes them to danger.
JonBenet Ramsey was a former American child beauty queen, who
was only 6 when she was brutally murdered in 1996.
JonBenets body was found in the basement of her family

home.
She had been sexually assaulted, her skull fractured and then

strangled with a makeshift garotte.

Her parents, Patsy Ramsey and John Ramsey become the major
suspect of their daughters murder.
Patrolman Richard French has done a search of the house at
5.52 a.m. on the day JonBenet died but found no sign of a
-

break in.
The handwriting of the note that demand to pay $118000 has a

similar handwriting of Patsy.

The Ramseys behavior had become odder.
The parents being represented by a team of high powered
lawyers and refuse to co-operate with the police/detective in

charge of the case.

However, they still insisted the accusation made by the
police/detective even though many of the clues left by the

murderer as if directed to them.

They claim themselves as innocent.

The murder case of JonBenet Ramsey has lead to unanswered

question other than risen up a few new issue.

Detective Lou Smit, a detective that runs out on the

investigation believes it is an act of an intruder who is a

pedophiliac.
Come up a breakthrough a few years later on 2007 when
convicted pedophile John Mark Karr, who had struck up an
email correspondence with British documentary maker Michael

Tracy, admitted being at the scene when JonBenet died.

Surprisingly, he was immediately cleared as his DNA didnt

match samples taken from the body.

140 men have come under scrutiny only to be cleared by DNA.
The Ramseys were initially cleared by DNA results in 2003,
when the district attorneys office announced that unspecified
samples taken from JonBenets underpants came from an

unknown male.
Death of Patsy, JonBenets mother due to an ovarian cancer,
without ever fully explaining the circumstances surrounding
JonBenets death, cause the case is still unsolved until now.

Refutation.
a.

Child beauty pageant promote self esteem and can be an instant

confidence builder for the child.
It helps the child to step out of her comfort zone and overcome her

shyness.
Gives the child the confidence she needs to showcase her talents as
well as her communication or public speaking abilities.

b.

Child beauty pageant has something to do with camaraderie or friendly

competition.
Pageants can teach the child the aspects of rules and fair play.
Competing with others can train the children to be gracious winners as
well as good losers.

Makes the child to realize there is a competition out there and joining
a beauty pageants is one means to preparing themselves to face the
challenges in order to succeed in the future.

c.

Child beauty pageant can be considered as a beneficial way for those

who are experiencing a financial downside.
Most of the winners of these pageants are given academic

scholarships or financial grants.

This in turn can minimize the familys expenses for the childs
schooling in an academic year.

Conclusion
-

Some parents may believe child beauty pageant bring good things, but it
is still do not outweigh the negative things or the consequences that a

child obtain through joining beauty pageants.

Child beauty pageants can also lead the child to the conclusion that
physical beauty is the primary judge of ones character and that her self-

worth is only based on what she got from the outcome of the competition.
In a nutshell, child beauty pageant do more harm than good to children
as they damage childrens health, causes hypersexualization and exposes
them to danger.
