February has been a month of planning at the ACS
offices in Silver Spring, MD. As a team, we are
brainstorming and planning our 5-year plan. Big
things are coming! We cant wait to tell you what
they are.

Leadership Certification Programs (NLCP) yet? If
you havent, maybe its time you do! NLCP is
designed to equip pastors, church administration
and lay-leadership with strategies and professional
skills to successfully lead. For more information on

Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventist
is holding an Urban Ministries Conference in

2. Beat Depression.
The suggestion isnt as strange as it might sound.
According to the Harvard Medical School Family
Health Guide, nearly half of heart attack survivors
experience depression, and are two to three times
more likely to have another heart attack, than
those who dont have depression. But a study of
Duke University found that people who volunteer
after a heart attack, reported decreased despair
and depression.

Hitchhike
Mike Howitt, an eighty-year-old from Leicester,
England chose to remember his late wife in 2012
by honoring her wish and scattering her ashes on a
hitchhike from Leicester to Cape Town, South
Africa.

you do something to help someone else, it makes
you feel good. Researchers from the London
School of Economics found that the more people
volunteered, the happier they were.
