Korea Brain Research Institute (KBRI) in cooperation with the International Brain Research Organization (IBRO)
and International Society for Neurochemistry (ISN) is pleased to announce the opening of the APRC/APSN
Joint Advanced School, with financial support from the IBRO/APRC and ISN/APSN. KBRI is the only national
brain research institute and gathers the capability of international and domestic neuroscience research, in
Korea.

1. Outline
The Advanced School will focus on neurochemical aspects of nervous system development to make
students learn a variety of techniques for neural connectomes and neural circuit reconstruction with
multi-scale imaging techniques to make students independently run an CLARITY, Electron
Microscopy(EM) or Array Tomography(AT) project.
The Advanced School will provide for junior researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students an
excellent opportunity to experience cutting-edge experimental methods by themselves. The school will
operate two tracks of the research trainings depending on the students interests. First track is a state-ofart techniques for the in vivo examination of the brain development. The other track is techniques for the
electron microscope-based analysis of connectomes.
The course of the Advance School will also include oral presentation and poster presentation and run one
week of practical experiences in the laboratory, together with related lectures.

Language will use in lectures and laboratory experiences in English.
