on sustainable plastics, Green Polymer Chemistry 2015 which
takes place from 18th to 19th March 2015 at the Maritim Hotel in
Cologne, Germany. The conference kicks off with market papers on
the global renewable plastics industry.
Green plastics are now a reality with bio-based sourcing already a
viable option for polyolefins, polyamides and some polyesters and
elastomers. This gives end-users the opportunity to use an instant,
renewable, drop-in substitute. The life cycle of these materials is
being carefully measured and tested to ensure that these new
options fit the criteria for sustainability. The packaging industry
has its own tests and leading brand owners have developed
standards too.
Besides growing plastics it is possible to recover chemicals from
waste to close the loop and there are some great successes to
celebrate in this area.
Innovative start up companies and top universities have found
new sources to make many of the basic thermoplastics, thermosets
and elastomers. These will be discussed at AMIs forum for brand
owners, manufacturers, the polymer industry and researchers at
