-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------INTRODUCTION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Welcome to the installation of Dundjinni, the most elite RPG Map Maker available
.
This document will take you step by step through the installation process, insur
ing
that your installation of Dundjinni is everything you would hope it to be.
There are two terms that I'm going to be using for this installation, they are "
Setup
Folder" and "Installation Directory". The "Setup Folder" is the location where
you
extracted this download to, more simply where this "INSTRUCTIONS" file is. As
for the "Installation Directory", we'll get to that later.
So, with that being said, let's begin shall we?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------PREPARATION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The first step in the process is to remove any Java software currently installed
on
your PC. This is due to a bug in the version 1.00 setup. Don't worry, you can
update your Java back to the current version later. To uninstall Java you must;
Click START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
Then locate anything starting with "Java(TM)", and select to remove it.
The Java version that the Setup program looks for is 1.4.2.02, which I have prov
ided
with this package. Unfortunately the setup program will not install it for us,
due to
the bug, so we must install it manually. To do this go into the setup folder an
d
double-click on the "j2re-1_4_2_02-windows-i586-p" file. Proceed through the Jav
a
setup by just clicking next through the entire process.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------INSTALLATION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now that we've prepared your computer to skip over the Java bug we can install
Dundjinni. Go back to your setup folder and double-click on the "Setup 1.00" fi
le.
Enter the following for the NAME and ID KEY;
Frank Jellum

DLAN-LHAN-KABA-BGWJ-X5VA
You can click "okay" and it should continue. While you can click "Next" through
out
this entire setup, I like to stop at the "Destination Location" window and chang
e
where Dundjinni is to be located, to make it easier for me to find it later.
Whatever you decide to use, from now on when I refer to the "Installation Direct
ory"
it will be in reference to whatever you picked for this "Destination Location",
and it
would be a good idea to write it down for future reference.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UPDATING
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Assuming the installation went correctly you will now be able to update Dundjinn
i
using the provided updates. Double-click on them in this order, making sure the
first
one finishes before moving on to the next;

With each of these you can simply click next through the entire process. Please
note,
there seems to be a very long delay at the end of "Update 1.02 to 1.04" while it
is
"updating the uninstall information". Be patient!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SUPPLIMENTAL OBJECTS
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Now that Dundjinni is completely installed we can move on to the supplemental it
ems
that I've added to this package. All of these items were downloaded from the we
bsite;
http://gmsapprentice.com
However, I have reorganized them a bit and created my own installer to make this
process much simpler for you. Go back to your setup folder and double-click on
the
"Supplements" file. During this installation you may click next, however when i
t asks
you for the "Installation Directory" you MUST make sure that you change it to wh
atever

your installation directory actually is. Please note, it SHOULD do this automat
ically,
however make sure you double- check it anyway. Once the setup is complete you c
an
double-check to see that it went properly by going to your installation director
y, then into
the MAP folder, and you should see several folders with the prefix "NC".
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------HOW TO AVOID BEING LABELED AS A PIRATE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As you have no-doubt pirated this copy of Dundjinni there is one last bit of in
formation
you should take heed of before posting any of your maps or campaigns to the inte
rnet.
The EULA requires that you put a Dundjinni stamp on any maps that use the origi
nal
artwork that comes with Dundjinni . To avoid this simply stick to the "Suppleme
nts" art
that I have provided. While in Dundjinni this art is labeled with the prefix "N
C", which
means Non Commercial. As long as you use this art, and none of the "Fantasy" ar
t, you
can post your maps to the internet without having to mess up your maps with the
Dundjinni stamp. You should avoid posting "Campaigns" to the internet as these
will be
dead giveaways that you have illegally acquired Dundjinni . The campaigns conta
in
information that can give you away, including the name you registered Dundjinni
with.
As your maps will be public, once on the internet, it's best to follow this sugg
estion to
avoid being labeled as a software pirate (even though you are, haha).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------TROUBLESHOOTING
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As this is a freely distributed copy of Dundjinni it does not come with any form
of
support. That being said, I have included a ZIP file with required DLL's to res
olve
a bug that some of you may encounter. If, when you launch Dundjinni, you run in
to
a DLL error you can correct it by unzipping the DLL files to the following folde
r;
C:\Windows\System32
You must then restart your computer. This should resolve the DLL error and allo
w
you to properly run Dundjinni. If you experience any other issues I would point
your attention to the Dundjinni website where you may browse the forum for
possible solutions.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IN CONCLUSION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------As a final note, if you do find this software to your liking I would strongly ur
ge that you
support the developers and purchase a retail copy of it, as I now have. Softwar
e
development takes time and effort, and if you find their work worthy you should
reward
them for it. The Supplemental Package will still work on the retail copy, excep
t you'll
have your own registration which will allow you to publicly publish your campaig
ns, so
you really have nothing to loose.
That's it! I hope you enjoy Dundjinni as much as I have.
