South Park Apologetics:

People can be shown the love of Christ by our response. Most religions become ir
rate over the offensive things said on the show. We should not do this. The Bibl
e says that we are to be patient and thus show the love of Christ and impress pe
ople with Christianity.
I have noticed a problem with Christians today. We tend to get angry about thing
s in exactly the same way everyone else gets angry, the only difference is what
these things are.
Most people are familiar with South Park, at least to some degree. What most Chr
istians know is that South Park blasphemes God, and believe me it does, in a big
way. But where Christians stray is in their response to South Park. Rather than
being the "bigger man" about things, we practically shout "DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH
MY JESUS!" at which point we become no better than the numerous other religions
. The only difference is that we are less likely to kill for our beliefs.
This is not only a mistake, it is a misrepresentation of God. It deliberately st
rays from God's commandments and so it is a form of pride and sin. We have from
God both commandments and examples of how to respond to mockery and persecution,
and no where does it feature yelling or protesting. We are supposed to patientl
y endure their mockery and show them the serenity of righteousness (Romans 12:14
, 1 Peter 3:9, 1 Peter 2:12,16).
In fact, this is one of the few things that can reach them. These people are sma
rt, they are cynical about how two-faced religious people are, so, we have to sh
ow the Jesus Christ and how He responded to things. How did Jesus respond to cri
ticism? Did He ever lose his temper and fly into a rage? No, He didn't. In fact
whenever Jesus and the Pharisees got into arguments, it was the Pharisees who be
came enraged and shouted. And we know that Jesus never tried to overpower throug
h force because when the Disciples asked to send down fire from Heaven to burn a
town that had spurned Jesus, He rebuked them.
We mustn't debase Christ by portraying Him as the other religions (2 Corinthians
5:20). When they mock, we must be patient and show Christ's love, not try to sc
are them by saying God will judge them with Hellfire and torment. In fact, if Ch
ristians would watch the show, as unpleasant as that would be, they would see th
at that is what South Park is complaining about, cheap scare tactics of Hell and
the two faced lying and judgmental attitudes of Christians. They don't mock Chr
ist's teachings, they mock Christians and Christ just gets caught up in the midd
le of it. We are weakening the cause for Christ by our weakness.
And before anyone tries to say that we can turn the other cheek for ourselves bu
t not for God, that is not the case at all. Christianity is a powerful movement
of humility. If God had wanted to subjugate people, He could do it a lot better
than through us. God has chosen the foolishness of preaching to show His power.

1 Corinthians 4:12
We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are perse
cuted, we endure it;
1 Peter 3:9 Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing
, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
Romans 12:14
Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

John 15:20
Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If t
hey persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, the
y will obey yours also.
1 Peter 3:16
keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your goo
d behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
1 Peter 2:12 Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you
of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visit
s us.
1 Peter 2:15 For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the igno
rant talk of foolish men.

Proverbs 25:21-22
Romans 12:20
On the contrary: "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him
something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you shou
ld suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear their threats[b]; do no
t be frightened. [c] 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepar
ed to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope th
at you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscie
nce, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ ma
y be ashamed of their slander.
