December 1992

Dear Friends of Christianville,

It is at this holiday season that we reflect upon God's unselfish love#

is also a

time to remember old friends and love ones.

It

This is exactly what we

find ourselves doing as we close another year at the mission.

1992 was a year of change for all of us.

with the decisions made.

We pray that God has been pleased

The country remained peaceful even though the democratic

government is still questioning who should be leading the people. We were able
to have school open the entire year, praise God. Even though the embargo remains
in effect, few shortages have effected the mission's operations. We were able to
add 200 children in classes this year. The schools are now under the direction
of Robinson Joseph, a long-time employee and pastor. Jerome Prinston continues
to direct the Christian education and is doing a fine job.

More and more school

children are attending Sunday School. Our emphasis is on maturing our current 6
churches before starting any new ones. God is already blessing this effort.
Raymond is blossoming as the mission's business liaison. God has given him
great wisdom and tact, and he is able to open doors for us in the day to day
operations in Port-au-Prince.
He is also a strong evangelist. He was blessed
with another son (only a 7 month baby!). He seems to be doing well, but is very
small.
Pray for this precious little one.
Infant mortality is high in Haiti.
Yolette, the sweet young girl who used to baby-sit for the Hergets lost her
8 month old daughter in November. We all are hurting for her.
Just yesterday,
missionary friends with the Blue Ridge orphanage lost their infant daughter as
well.
This is such a great loss to all of us who fellowship together, but it
reminds us of our need to comfort one another and to always be an encouragement,

especially to those in the household of faith.

David Marcilin continues his fine ministry even though he struggles through

some days in weakened health.

He is truly our "pastor" here.

Besides his work

at the dental clinic and at Jean-Jean Church, he gives devotions at the nutrition

center old people's program.

David's wife has replaced Adlene as the office
secretary.
Rick_Jias_be_en very pleased with her abilities.
The office is now located in the former "general's" house.
How Tmpressive
it is! The morale among the workers is high.
Even the other mission personnel
seem to be vei'y proud of the new image.
It is our desire, if God wills, to
purchase the adjoining land to put our high school back on Christianville
property.
It is ideally located and already has thousands of dollar's worth of
existing buildings. The owner wants to sell, and we believe the price is right.
Please make this a matter of prayer and action.
We must be ready when the door
opens.

Franky and Adlene are relocating to Jeremie to work with Paul Ronk. We pray
their move will be fruitful for them and their ministry.
We are grateful for
their hard work over the past years.

Christianville hopes to keep you informed of the work here on a regular

basis. We know many of you sponsors would appreciate better communications with
your sponsor-child. Please be patient with us. We have over 1400 children, and
many live in remote areas. It is quite difficult to answer every letter promptly.
We are operating with a skeleton staff at present. The electric power remains on
for only 8-10 hours a day, so work days can be very short on the computers.
We
realize how difficult i t must be for you to fully understand our working
conditions.
This is exactly why we encourage you to visit, be it a work team or
just a vacation. We know that once you visit Haiti, the people will capture your
hearts. The Haitian people have such a simple faith in God. They truly trust Him
for even their daily bread. Yet, in such poverty, they're kind and happy.
Once
you visit, you'll understand why we remain here to be a support team for the
Haitian

staff.

Rick and I are completing our first six months as directors of this mission.
We're thankful to God that He has called us in unison to minister here.

Our love

for each other deepens as we share heartaches and triumphs. We have learned that
nothing material can replace the love of God in a marriage.
We give God all the
glory for what He has accomplished in Christianville and in our personal lives.
We truly thank you for your faithful support.
Your encouragement cannot be
measured in dollars and cents (or even gourds!). May God bless you abundantly for
all that you do in His name.
From all the staff at Christianville Foundation - Merry Christmas and Happy
new Year

in the

Lord.

P.S. God is so good! A shipment of USAID food just arrived so we are able to fill
our food depot before leaving. As we look at all these bags marked USA, we thank
God for America and for the compassionate hearts of so many people. Pray for our

country like you've never prayed before. Satan rules openly here-but he's getting
a real foot hold in America. He's just very disguised.
Guard the freedoms.
God
bless America!
Oh yes-the container arrived late November.
Thanks to all who
labored

and

donated!

Wouldyou love me?

It's your
opportunity
for happiness.
Happiness is ours when we makesomeone

happy. Here is a child who may never go to

school or learn to read and write.

A child who is hungry.

There are thousands ofHaiti's
children waiting.hoping.
CHRISTIANVILLE

is ready to help them.

Let us tell you about the benefits
ofbuilding a personal relationship with
