With the rich natural scenery of the Amazonas

Rainforest and as the most impor-tant hub for
eco-tourism Manaus is a location of major tourist
interest.
Hosting the World Cup in Manaus would offer an
attractive combination of the exciting fascination of experiencing the tropical rain forest and
enjoying the vibrant city of Manaus with its unique
historical and cultural background as well for

O local de implantao proposto uma rea
estrategicamente perfeita, localizada entre o Aeroporto Internacional Eduardo Gomes e o centro
histrico da cidade.
Nas imediaes diretas, esto localizados a arena
poliesportiva Amadeu Teixeira e o sambdromo.
Juntamente com outras instalaes esportivas
a leste, estas edificaes formam o Complexo
Esportivo do Amazonas, que pode acomodar
perfeitamente todas as funes auxiliares para os
eventos da Copa do Mundo.
The proposed site is a strategically perfect area

located between the international Airport Eduardo
Gomes International and the historic city center.
In the direct vicinity the multi-functional Arena Poliesportiva Amadeu Teixeira and the sambdromo
can be found.
Together with other sports facilities in the east they
form the Complexo Esportivo do Amazonas Sports
Park which can perfectly house all the ancillary
func-tions for the World Cup events.

O anel externo de segurana abraar o estdio e

seu entorno, a Arena Poliesportiva e o centro de

A arena acomodar o Centro de Mdia durante o
evento, enquanto a rea vazia a oeste da arena
pode ser usada como complexo para a mdia.

O centro de convenes acomodar as instalaes de recepo VIP e os stands para os patrocinadores.

The zoning of the whole area will be modified to

completely match the demands of the championship.

The outer security ring will embrace the stadium

and its pedestal, the Arena Poliesportiva and the
projected congress center in the south.
The arena will be house the Media Centre during
the event whereas the empty area on the west of
the arena can be used as media compound.
The congress center will contain the VIP hospitality facilities and sponsors village.

Uma vez que o sucesso dos jogos depende consideravelmente de um acesso e sistema de trfego
eficazes, foi desenvolvido um conceito claro e
eficiente para o trfego.

A estratgia principal a separao clara dos diferentes grupos de usurios, sendo que cada um
deles ter acesso diferenciado, sem interferncia
dos demais.
Os espectadores chegaro ao estdio na maior

parte de carro, nibus, Metrobus ou outros sistemas de transporte pblico. Para no interferir no
trfego normal da cidade, propomos a construo
de um tnel na Avenida Constantino Nery.

Dessa forma, uma rea de aproximadamente

15.000 m ao longo do estdio pode ficar reservada aos pedestres, juntamente com pistas especialmente protegidas, para Metrobus e nibus.
Nos dias sem eventos, essa via pode ser utilizada
como estrada normal. Ao longo da avenida, dever ser providenciada uma espaosa pista para
nibus e metrobus.
As the successful result of the games highly depends on an effective access and traffic system
a clear rational and efficient traffic concept was
developed.
The elemental strategy is the clear separation of
the different user groups each to be provided with
a distinctive access system that is not affected by
others.
The spectator will arrive at the stadium mostly by
car, bus, metrobus or with other public transport
systems. In order not to interfere with the normal city traffic we would like to propose a tunnel
along the Constantino Nery road.

The area of ca. 15.000 m along the stadium can

be reserved for pedestrians along with specially
secured lanes for metrobuses and buses. Along the
avenue a generous lane for the buses and metrobuses a gen-erous is to be provided.

The multi storey car parks will feature two naturally ventilated underground levels and two upper
levels in order not to spatially dominate the sports
park. The ground level will be reserved for bus parking exclusively.
The enclosing streets Loris Cordovil road and the
Perdo Teixeira Avenue allow for a flexible and acceptable traffic flow.

Plano Piloto da rea do Estdio

Stadium Ground Masterplan
O novo estdio de futebol de Manaus ser projetado
em um complexo esportivo vital que integra as
instalaes esportivas existentes nas imediaes.
O complexo consiste em duas reas essenciais: a
rea protegida, incluindo o estdio e o sambdromo,
e um parque pblico na parte oeste do local.
Este parque pblico acomoda diversas atividades
esportivas e dever estar permanentemente aberto
ao pblico.
Os edifcios, estradas e instalaes esportivas
existentes so integrados em um conceito geral
e complementados com outros campos e instalaes esportivas para todas as geracoes.
Uma nova infra-estrutura liga o complexo
esportivo comunidade vizinha, oferecendo
The new soccer stadium for Manaus will be

developed into a vital sportspark which integrates
the existing surrounding sport facilities.
The park consists of two essential areas: the secured
area including the stadium and the samba parade
and a public park in the west section of the site.
This public park supports various sport activities
and shall be open to the public at all times.
The existing buildings, roads, and sport facilities
are integrated into an overall concept and complemented with additional sports grounds and
facilities for all generations.
A new infrastructure links the sportspark with
the surrounding neighbourhood and provides
functional connections to the stadium.

O estdio de futebol ser implantado numa praa
,que servir de plateau de distribuicao, coberta com
vegetao nativa e caminhos de pedras naturais
brasileiras, que enfatizo as linhas da estruturais
da edificao.
Ptios verdes subterraneos fazem parte desta longa
plataforma melhorando as condicoes climticas
da praca e trazendo iluminacao natural para as
reas subterraneas.
Todos os outros edifcios como o Sambdromo, a
Escola de Samba, de samba, o pavilho multifuncional e todos os outros edifcios existentes esto
dispostos em uma nica praa homognea.
The soccer stadium is set onto a plaza-like plateau

which is covered with native vegetation and lines
of natural stone slabs, emphasising the grid of the
stadium.
Green patios sunken into the spacious plateau
improve the climatic situation of the plaza and
provide light in the underground areas.
All other buildings such as the samba parade, samba
school, multifunctional hall and other existing
buildings are arranged onto a homogenous surface
of similar permeable materials.

As imediaes abertas do estdio convidam os
visitantes, sendo pavimentadas com lajotas de
pedra natural do Brasil. O projeto da cobertura
refletido nas pracas por linhas de luz.
Este espao garante o fluxo de entrada e sada
rpido e seguro dos visitantes nas instalaes do
estdio. Juntas abertas e canais drenam as superfcies pavimentadas.
The open, spatial surrounding of the stadium invites

visitors and is paved with natural stone slabs from
Brazil.
The Roof Structure is translated onto the plazas
with walkable light lines. This space guarantees a
quick and safe filling and emptying of visitors on
the stadium grounds.

acompanham os caminhos que levam s entradas
do estdio.

PATHS AND PROMENADE
The bus parking at the main entrance is set on a

spacious area in front of the main entrance in the
east thanks to a tunnel that carries the traffic underground.
Two new multi storey park garages define the
northern border, with intensively planted roofs
and walls. Long rows of native trees frame the
functional areas and accompany the promenades
leading to the stadiums entrances.

Open joints and channels drain the paved surfaces.

All street furnishings, including fences, bollards,
railings, light poles, flagpoles, benches and rubbish
containers are made of strong, robust materials
with discreet colours.
Elegant water fountains, shading canopies and
fog machines create a cooling atmosphere on the
plateau and plaza.
Fan shops, ticket booths and gastronomy pavilions
are set outside the fenced areas.

Um novo sistema de trilhas, incluindo trilhas e
pontes sobre o riacho, garante o acesso a partir
das imediaes e por toda a localizao. O parque ser construdo com novas trilhas, passarelas
e pontes sobre o riacho.
Dois caminhos principais estendem-se de leste
a oeste, definindo o eixo principal do parque e
criando uma conexo para o estdio.
A new path system including paths and bridges

over the stream guarantees access from the surrounding area and throughout the site.
The park will be developed with new paths,
walkways and bridges over the stream. Two main
promenades run from east to west and define the
main axis of the park and build a connection to the
stadium.

Esto previstos caminhos amplos, com estruturas
construdas para oferecer proteo contra o sol.
Os caminhos tambm contornam a rea natural,
composta por um prado, um riacho e rvores altas
e maduras.
As amplas margens de riacho, recm-formadas,
aumentam a capacidade de drenagem de gua da
chuva da superfcie, proporcionando um agradvel
ambiente natural entre as instalaes esportivas
propriamente ditas.
A topografia existente integrada e mantida com
pequenas paredes de reteno.
Ao longo dos principais caminhos com sombras,
sero criados mais campos e quadras de esportes
para o pblico.
Outras reas de lazer, bem como campos e quadras de esportes sero instalados nos tetos das
garagens de estacionamento.
As paredes do edifcio estaro cobertas por videiras.
Wide promenades are foreseen with built structures

to provide protection from the sun. The promenades
also frame the natural area which is comprised of
a meadow, stream and mature tall trees. The newly
formed canal increase the capacity for surface rain
water drainage.
Open gutters drain the sport grounds and paths
and take all surface waters to canal. The existing
topography is integrated and maintained with
small retaining walls.

O objetivo geral do sistema de gerenciamento de
gua coletar toda a gua da superfcie e drenla, de forma natural.
Todas as superfcies pavimentadas sero reduzidas ao mnimo.
A praa e as trilhas sero construdas com materiais semipermeveis, que permitem a infiltrao
da gua no solo.
Quando possvel, haver vegetao em todos os
tetos e paredes, minimizando o fluxo de sada e
amenizando o clima local.
The overall aim of the water management system is

to collect all surface water and drain it in a natural
way.
All paved surfaces will be reduced to a minimum.
The plaza and pathways will be constructed with
semi-permeable materials allowing the water to
infiltrate into the ground.
Where possible all roofs and walls will be planted
mini-mizing the outflow and improving the local
climate.

Water Management Perspective
Uma parte da gua da chuva ser coletada e
utilizada em sistemas de irrigao.
O riacho existente exerce uma funo importante
para a drenagem das superfcies pavimentadas.
O formato de canal do riacho ser transformado
em uma forma mais natural, permitindo que o
crrego transporte mais gua drenada das reas
pavimentadas.
Ser evitada a existncia de gua parada, atravs
de ligeiras mudanas na topografia e nas condies subterrneas, minimizando o crescimento
de insetos e a existncia de condies insalubres.
A portion of the rain water will be collected and

used for the irrigation systems.
The existing stream plays an impor-tant role
important for the drainage of paved surfaces.
The canalled form of the stream will be transformed into a more natural state enabling the creek
to carry more water from the drained paved areas.
Still water will be avoided through slight changes
in topography and the underground conditions,
minimizing the growth of insects and unsanitary
conditions.

Vegetao no Parque
Vegetation in the Park
As rvores existentes sero totalmente preservadas e integradas.
As novas vegetaes sero compostas por plantas
nativas do Brasil, que se adaptam facilmente ao
clima e, assim, reduzem os custos de manuteno
e suporte do meio ambiente.
Todas as principais trilhas sero acompanhadas
por um corredor de rvores de uma nica espcie.
The existing trees will be fully preserved and

integrated. New plantings are composed of native
plants from Brazil that adapt easily to the climate
and thus, reduce costs for maintenance and support
the environment.
All main pathways will be planted with an alley of
one tall tree sort. The existing trees in the landscape
park will be complemented with new plantings.
Under the tree tops formal colourful plant beds
with various colours and textures support orientation.

As trilhas so pavimentadas com concreto ou
asfalto, podendo ser utilizadas como caminhos ou
pistas esportivas para corrida, jogging e ciclismo.
Ao lado das trilhas, bancos e pavilhes convidam
o visitante a sentar-se e relaxar na sombra. Vastas
reas com gramado proporcionam timas vistas
do parque e acomodam atividades informais.
Outras atividades sero projetadas prximas s
passarelas.
The paths are paved with concrete sets or asphalt

and can be used as promenades or as sport lanes
for running, jogging and cycling.
Next to the promenades benches and pavilions
invite one to sit and relax in the shade. Large lawns
and grassy fields allow views throughout the park
and support informal activities.
More activities are set close to the walkways.

Conceito Iluminacao
Light Concept
O conceito diferenciado de iluminao cria uma
atmosfera exclusiva no complexo esportivo de
Manaus.
De acordo com as demandas, o complexo pode ser
iluminado de forma intensiva ou mnima.
Nos eventos de grande porte, as instalaes sero
intensivamente iluminadas, atravs de altos
postes de iluminao e, nos outros momentos,
a atmosfera ser mais sutil, graas ao uso de
iluminao indireta, ou seja, de focos de luz.
No parque, apenas os caminhos e estradas mais
longos sero iluminados noite.
Todas as iluminaes estaro equipadas com
clulas solares que produzem energia, e utilizaro
lmpadas de baixa tenso, como LEDs.
A distinguished light concept creates a unique

atmosphere in the Sportspark of Manaus.

The localization of the new Manaus stadium is kept

over the urban topography respecting the value of
the pre-exiting stadium: the integration on the
urban landscape is caracteristic.
The elevation from the ground floor level is an urban
happening that distinguish the noble buildings
of Manaus, creating distance and vision over the
surroundings and flood protected areas, symbolic
feature from the relation with nature, rooted in
the vernacular architecture of the region.

The slight inclination of the topography is used to

create two dedicated urban levels: the street level
along the Constantino Nery road and the raised
plaza on the pedestal level.
This pedestal has a planar connection to the
sambdromo in the west and contains three stories
of parking as well as technical, commercial and

The stadium bowl is situated as a strong expressive
object widely visibly from all sides and with a distinctive characteristic design.

routes using handicapped accessible ramps have

allows the necessary payment specifications to be

main stands with a size about 12 x 6,8 m, so that
perfect viewing conditions can be provided for all
of the 69.000 specta-tors. For this kind of application a pixel pitch of 25 mm (real) respectively 12.5

in LED technology mounted on a steel frame construction. The frame construction is equipped with

The fourth phase consists of the construction of
the steel cantilevers as the primary roof structure. To provide all advantages of a modern
multi purpose arena a retractable inner roof is
planned over the field of play. Membrane elements spanning between steel girders run over
cable girders that span from one side of the roof
to the opposite.
When the retractable roof is not used, the elements are parked underneath the outer fixed
roof, protected from environmental impacts.

by very slender steel arches to provide a slight
curvature against ponding and to withstand environmental impacts.

The inner cable system is prestressed. This generates

the required stiffness and load bearing capacity to
withstand all environmental impacts on the retractable roof.
The cables are stressed against the rigidity of the
steel cantilevers, creating a self sustaining system
of high redundancy and reliability.
Due to the diagonal frame work the whole
roof structure is automatically braced against
horizontal and unbalanced loading conditions.
Additional bracings or installations to support the

Since the bending effect has its maximum value
at the intersection between concrete and steel
structure, the steel cantilevers are tapered in cross
section and in wall thickness.
Starting with a welded box hollow section of
H*W = 2600mm*500mm at the intersection and
ending with a welded box hollow section of H*W =
1000mm*500mm.
This leads all together to an unique and at the same
time economic approach for cantilever structures.
The box is welded out of genuine rolled steel plates
with steel grade S355 as per international and
brazilian standards.

Embora um estdio seja um espao aberto, o seu
comportamento acstico dever ser mantido sob
controle j que um ambiente reverberante tambm pode impedir uma comunicao inteligvel
com o pblico, necessrio para a segurana no
interior do estdio.
Reforo de Som / Sistemas de Alto Falantes

Requisitos e regulamentos
De acordo com a ISO 7240-19 e as exigncias
da FIFA, o estdio dever ser equipado com um
sistema de alto falantes. Alm de sua funo
relevante em termos de segurana, este sistema
tambm ser utilizado como reforo de som de
alta qualidade para as arquibancadas.
Utilizando complexas simulaes de computador,

as circunstncias acsticas sero investigadas
durante o processo do projeto visando estabelecer um tempo de reverberao nunca superior
a 3s no estdio ocupado nas reas cobertas por
telhado. Em conjunto com o projeto do sistema
de reforo de som, o comportamento de reflexo
das superfcies internas ser determinado e ajustado de modo a evitar quaisquer efeitos acsticos
perturbadores, ou seja, ecos.

Requirements and regulations
According to regulations ISO 7240-19 and FIFA requirements the stadium site shall be equipped with
a public address system. Aside its security relevant
functionality this system shall be used as a highquality sound reinforcement for the stands.
O sistema de alto falantes, ao menos como parte

do sistema de alarme por voz para todo o complexo do estdio, necessita ser inteligvel. De
acordo com os regulamentos acima mencionados, a inteligibilidade da fala mensurada por
STI >= 0.50 como mdia obtida em um mnimo
de 90% das reas destinadas ao pblico. O valor
mnimo de STI = 0.45 no dever ser ultrapassado.
The PA system, at least as part of the voice alarm

system for the whole stadium venue, needs to be
intelligible. According to the above mentioned regulations speech intelli-gibility is measurable by
STI >= 0.50 as average achieved over a minimum
of 90 % of all public audience areas. Minimum
value of STI = 0.45 shall not be deceeded.
Adicionalmente, exige-se uma intensidade sonora adequada do sistema, resultando que o nvel
de presso sonora do sistema de som dever ser
pelo menos 6 dBA acima de LA10,T do rudo do
pblico. Experincias e medies em outros projetos de estdio identificam um valor de LA10,T
= 92 dBA considerando o formato e tamanho de
estdio deste projeto.
Furthermore it requires an adequate loudness of

the system, following that the sound pressure level
of the sound system shall be at least 6 dBA above
LA10,T of the crowd noise. Experiences and measurement in other stadium projects anticipate a
value for LA10,T = 92 dBA for the stadium shape
and size in this project.

Although a stadium is an open space the acoustic
behaviour shall be kept under con-trol since reverberant surrounding also avoid an intelligible
communication with the stadium audience, which
shall be necessary in terms of stadium security.
Using complex 3D computer simulations the
acoustic circumstances will be investi-gated in
the design process following to establish a reverberation time never exceed 3 sec in the occupied
stadium at roof-covered areas. In junction with
the design of the sound reinforcement system the
reflection behaviour of interior surfaces shall be
discovered and adjusted to avoid any disturbing
acoustic effects, i.e. echoes.
The total frequency response of the sound system

Control Room
Apart from the requirementes of security of a
table of a jornalist, a mixage table, microfones
wireless and projection equipment will be included
in a control room with all the audio signal of the
stadium.
The control room will be placed close to the
security secction, with a total view of the tiers of
the stadium, according to the FIFA requirements.

longo prazo. Considerar os aspectos ecolgicos
como parte integrante j desde o incio do projeto
abre a possibilidade de criar uma espcie de
sinergia entre as exigncias tcnicas dos jogos
e a responsabilidade a longo prazo para com as
geraes futuras.
O programa Green Goal define diretrizes para um
Campeonato Mundial no agressivo ao ambiente,
que constitui a base da concepo arquitetnica e
o conceito de equipamentos tcnicos.

Esta energia alimenta dispositivos eltricos, como
o sistema de holofotes para o estdio. O calor

calor e energia utilizado para o processo de desumidificao absorbativa nas unidades de movimentao de ar.

o pr-resfriamento do ar externo e recolhida no
reservatrio.

PRE COOLING
Para pr-resfriar o ar, alem de tneis subterrneos,
utilizada gua fria do lenol fretico. Para obter
uma desumidificao mais eficiente, previsto o

de produo de calor e energia alimentada por
bioetanol regenerativo e neutro em relaao ao
CO2.
