KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission Training Opportunities

CLOSING DATE: 25 FEBRUARY 2015 The KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission has exciting training opportunities for people involved in the field of Film and TV Production. The training programmes are available for beginners and advanced practitioners based in KwaZulu-Natal. They are delivered in partnership with National Film and TV institutions, using expert local and international trainers. All programmes commence in March 2015. For enquiries and applications, please send a motivation letter, copy of matric certificate and ID to zanelen@kwazulunatalfilm.co,za (for SEDIBA programmes) or buhlen@kwazulunatalfilm.co.za (for the other programmes) SEDIBA Spark Screenwriting Programme This programme is for practitioners who have worked in the industry in some capacity and have a feature film concept that may appeal to the local and international market, and Trainee Script Editors who have a relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience in the film and television industry OR have experience of writing intellectually challenging and coherent reports, articles and/or essays for a degree programme, newspaper or magazines, a web blog, a creative or professional writing programme. The programme runs for five months with workshops taking place one weekend a month, and is at no cost to the participant. SEDIBA Masters Scriptwriting Training Programme The programme is writer-friendly and provides a foundation to enable writers to collaborate with each other and with script editors on their projects. Script Editors are also trained on this programme. It develops the professional knowledge and understanding of the writing talent and the concepts over a year to a polished second draft script through various stages of story and script development training. The programme is at no cost to the selected participants. SEDIBA International Financing Programme for Producers The programme is aimed at experienced and emerging producers in television drama and feature film products is geared at offering focused training in international financing, packaging, sales and distribution. Producers are empowered with the knowhow of sourcing international financing through co-production partnerships and other alternatives in an effort to raising sufficient funds to make films of the highest quality.
Documentary Development Training Programme
This programme is aimed at filmmakers whose documentary projects have a strong controlling idea and premise. Stories must be engaging, explore human nature and provide insight into our lives in ways that we have never seen before. The programme runs for two alternating weeks. Practical Field Production Training Programme (Skills Programme) This programme is aimed at technically minded yet creative filmmakers who would like to earn credits towards a level 4 SETA accredited qualification in film / TV production. It covers camera, field audio and lighting. The programme runs for five months with face to face lectures in alternating weeks. It is at no cost to the participants.
Practical Post Production Training Programme
This programme is aimed at technically minded yet creative filmmakers who would like to earn credits towards a level 4 SETA accredited qualification in film / TV production. It covers video and audio editing, final mix and on-line editing. The programme runs for four months with face to face lectures in alternating weeks. It is at no cost to the participants.
