Stitch Explanation
Triple crochet (tr) : It is a taller than a double crochet and worked as follows:
Wrap the yarn around the hook 2 times, insert your hook in to the next st and pull up a loop, *(yarn
over and pull through 2 loops) 3 times.------A triple crochet made.
Shells: I have used 2 types of shells in this pattern. Though they are very similar, mixing them up adds
more dimension to the pattern.
Lacy shell: (tr, ch 1, tr, ch 1, tr) all worked in to the same st.
Solid Shell : ( tr, ch 1, 3 tr ) all worked in to the same st.
Pattern
Scarf is worked lengthwise and you start with a very long chain. I found that the shells looked
better worked this way :). Please see stitch explanation above for lacy and solid shell.
With G hook Chain 180 + 3 for turning chain. If you chain tight use the next size hook for your
foundation chain.
Row 1: 1 hdc in 3rd chain from hook, * skip 2 ch , 1 lacy shell in next st, skip 2 ch, 1 hdc in next ch, *
repeat from * to * till end. -----------30 shells
Note: In the next round the beginning Ch 5 counts as the first (tr + ch 1 ) of a shell and the idea is to
work a shell in the dip between each of the two shells of the previous round alternating with a hdc in
the peak of each shell. See pic 1 on page 3.
Row 2 : ch 5 , 1 tr in first st, sk 2 st, 1 hdc in next st ( the middle tr at the peak of of a shell), sk 2 st,
*(1 lacy shell in to the dip between next two shells, sk 2 st, 1 hdc in to next st on the peak of a shell, sk
2 st ) *, repeat from * to * ending with a (tr, ch 1, tr) in the last st.
Row 3 : Ch 2, 1 hdc in first st, sk 2 st, 1 solid shell in next st at the dip between 2 shells, sk 2 st, 1 hdc
in next st at the peak of a shell*, repeat from *-* working last hdc in to the top of beginning chain 3.
Row 4: row 2
Row 5: Ch 2, 1 hdc in first st, sk 2 st, 1 lacy shell in next st at the dip between 2 shells, sk 2 st, 1 hdc
in next st at the peak of a shell*, repeat from *-* working last hdc in to the top of beginning chain 3.
Row 6: ch 5 , 1 tr in first st, sk 2 st, 1 hdc in next st ( the middle tr at the peak of of a shell), sk 2 st,
*(1 solid shell in to the dip between next two shells, sk 2 st, 1 hdc in to next st on the peak of a shell,
sk 2 st ) *, repeat from * to * ending with a (tr, ch 1, tr) in the last st.

If you want to add to the width of your scarf, repeat rows 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 .
Tassels And Finishing
For tassels, cut 4 strands of 8 inches length. Fold at the middle of the strands and pull through the
scarf to get a loop, yarn over grabbing all the strands and pull through the loop. Tighten the knot and
trim as needed. I attached 5 tassels on each side. Weave in the ends.
