GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASK(S) AND OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED

Under the overall supervision of the Budget Holder and direct supervision of Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) in Bangladesh,
under the daily supervision of Supervisory Engineer and in coordination with NPC & NPD, the Site Civil Engineer will be responsible for the
following tasks:
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Assist Supervisory Engineer in supervising the construction works and guide the contractor staff to ensure quality of the
construction activities implemented in the field including the material used for construction of Agril. Mall .
2. Ensure that construction of Agril. Mall has been carried out in accordance with the design specifications and standards as outlined
in the detailed design and drawings.
3. Supervise the contractors for using proper methods for testing and proper use of construction materials and equipment in the field
4. Monitor the construction equipment, testing tools/equipment in the construction sites to meet the quality standards and report to
FAO staff & consultant civil engineer regarding its suitability.
5. Monitor the use of quality control log books, construction manual and specifications at the site with continuous tracking and
guidance on the use of the site logbook.
6. Monitor the performance of the work with regard to workmanship, compliance with the specifications and all necessary testing
required for acceptance of any item of work.
7. Report and ensure to remove by the contractor any work which is found to be:

Not in accordance with the drawings;

Not in accordance with the specifications in terms of either work method or materials specification;

Covering work which has been rejected as unacceptable;

8. Maintain records of all testing & construction work, including cross referencing to items of work to which each test refers and
location from which any samples were obtained for testing.
9. Checking the measurement of contractors bill.
10. Perform any other duties as required for the Project

Qualifications required:
Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized college/institution
At least 5 years experience on civil works.
Preferences will be given on computer literacy & experience with UN and/or NGOs
Fluency in English will be added value
