of Blackboard? When should you send your work to that address?

Outside email should be used only when a student cannot contact the
instructor thought blackboard email. Attachment or work should NEVER
be sent to instructors email.
2. What is the required text for this course?
Required Text: Technical Communication 13 Edition by John M. Lannon
3. Where will each week's assignments for the course be posted?
Posts detailing each assignment with deadline is under Discussion Board
via Blackboard
4. What happens if the posted word count limit on each assignment
is not reached?
Word count must be met in order for an assignment to pass
5. Where can you find the assignment schedule? How can you access
all of the class assignments?
Each week homework assignments are posted on the course homepage on
Sundays or Mondays by approximately noon via Blackboard
There is a tentative schedule for assignments under Assignment
Deadlines via Blackboard
6. In what computer format should Project Assignments be posted?
Every submission must be in Rich Text Format (.rtf)

7. When submitting Project Assignments, what should always be


included as part of the name of the file you submit?
rtf format must be as followed: last name, the name of the assignment,
and the rtf fomat (LASTNAME_ASSIGNMENT.rtf)
8. What are the penalties for turning in a Project Assignment late?
Late projects are not allowed revisions
For each day late a 10% deduction will incur
After 7 days past from due date, no more late projects will accepted
9. What is the penalty for turning in a Discussion Post late?
For each day late 15 points will be deducted
After 7 days past from due date, no more late discussions will accepted
10. How do you download and read feedback comments on graded
Project Assignments?
Feedbacks can be found via Blackboard under My Grades
Microsoft Word will allow a student to view comments. Else, Adobe Reader
is also suitable.
11. How are grades calculated? (What percentages are each grade?)
Grading percentages are as follows:

Discussion Posts: 10%

Projects: 50%

Grant Proposal: 30%

Final Exam: 10%


12. What steps should you follow if you have trouble submitting an
assignment because of technical difficulties?
The following steps should be taken if technical difficulties occur:

Send instructor an email at uh address explaining the problem

Do not send email as attachment via instructors email

Assignment should still be sent appropriately through Blackboard

Campus resources are always available

13. What happens if a student plagiarizes any part of this course?

Disciplinary action will be taken on any student who turns in material not
their own in accordance to the UH Student Handbook.
Plagiarism will result in an F in this course
14. How often should students check the Discussion area of the
course?
A student should check the Discussion Posts every time they enter the
course

15. When will the final exam be given?
According the Assignment Deadline, the Final Exam Online will be taken on
the tentative day of May 5th.
16. When will revisions be allowed?
Two revisions will be allowed to replace F or D grades. These revisions will
be allowed the last week of class. This excludes Projects 1, 2, 3, and 4.
According to the Assignment Deadlines the Revised Introductory Letter is
tentatively due Feb 22.
17. Which papers can be revised?
One project assignment from Project 1-10 will be allowed for revision

This excludes the Syllabus Quiz, Introductory Letter, and Revised

to students?
The Discussion Board as well at the Homepage via Blackboard will contain
important information regarding the course
19. How are revision grades averaged with the rest of the grades?
Revisions will replace the original grade

When is the Grant Proposal due?

According to the Assignment Deadlines, the Grant Proposal has a tentative


due date of May 4 before midnight
