Set Eyedropper to any other pixel sample amount other than Point Sample to improve performance. General preferences: Zoom Resizes Windows and Zoom with Scroll Wheel set on. History Log is for legal and forensic investigation; recording what was done to the image. File Handling: Enable Version Cue is set to on to have extra features in the Place/Browse dialog. Performance: Let Photoshop Use enough RAM to work and leave enough RAM for other applications. Performance: Scratch Disks set to other hard drive if you have one. Cursors: Set to Full Size Brush Tip and Show Crosshair in Brush Tip is on. Transparency and Gamut: change the Gamut Warning to a loud saturated green color. InDesign CS4 Preferences:
Set the Pages Panel to not show vertically. Alter the Basic Paragraph style to change your default font and type size. Interface Preferences: Set the Tools panel to Double Column; and the Tool Tips to Fast. Type Options: Set the Drag and Drop Text Editing enabled on in Layout View; font preview to large. Units & Increments: Set Keyboard Increments to 1 pt; 1 pt; 1 pt; and kerning to 5/1000 em. Guides & Pasteboard: Set the Preview Background to Black; Guide Options Guides in Back. Autocorrect: Set the Enable Autocorrect option to on. Notes: for InCopy workflows. Choose an identifying color. Story Editor Display: Set the font to Myriad Pro; 24 pt; 150% spacing; black text on white background. Display Performance: Default view to high quality; adjust view to High Quality; greeking type to 0 pt. Appearance of Black only applies to RGB digital workflows; not CMYK printing press workflows. File Handling: Make sure Enable Version Cue is set to on.
Illustrator CS4 Preferences:
General Preferences: Turn off Append [Converted]; take note of Scale Strokes & Effects on or off. Selection & Anchor Display: Set the Anchors to third choice; set handles to second choice. Type: Size/Leading to 1 pt; Baseline Shift to 1 pt; Tracking to 5/1000 em; Font Preview to Large. Units & Display Performance: Take note that now Illustrator CS4 can measure type in inches. Smart Guides & Slices: Take note that you can add your favorite angles.
Bridge CS4 Preferences:
General: Turn off or on some Favorite Items. Decide whether double-click should load into ACR. Thumbnails: Details: Turn on all the Show switches for additional metadata. Metadata: Decide whether to turn off some extra metadata fields.
Acrobat 9 Preferences: Preferences: Page Display: Use Local Fonts off; Overprint Preview defaults now defaults to on; Show Art, Trim, Bleed on.
