1. Placement
Before embarking upon an internship it will be desired from a student to have a detailed
discussion with the Career Planning Officer (CPO) or a relevant subject teacher to see
whether pre-requisite subject requirements are fulfilled and what may be expected in terms of
workload undertaken?
The institute will do all the necessary to find internships for the eligible students. Although,
the institute has developed a rich network of linkages with the industry and receives plenty of
requests for the internees, but still it may not be possible for it to secure internships for all
according to their needs and requirements, therefore the students are also encouraged to find
places of internships for themselves.
To find about the opportunities available with the Institute students are required to talk with
the CPO or any other nominee of the Director well in advance of when they actually want to
start one. For summer break internees the best time for submitting a request would be two
weeks before the end of preceding Spring Semester.
At the time of placement it is mandatory for all the students to inform (in writing) the Director
UIMS or his nominee about their placement and provide the following information
a. Name of the organization
b. Complete address of the organization
c. Name, Designation and Detailed Contacts of the Head/Incharge of the
Branch/Office where you will perform your work.
d. Nature of the job to be undertaken
e. Expected benefits in the professional development
f. The expected Start and End dates (Minimum desired duration being 6 8 weeks)

3. Student Obligations
As a UIMS, UAAR student who has been successful in gaining an internship (at your own or
through the institute), you are a representative of the University at all times. As such, you are
expected to uphold a high standard of conduct. This means that you should be punctual,
conscientious, reliable and positive towards work. You should also ensure that a dress of
acceptable standard is worn in relation to the organization in which you are placed.
If for any reason you are unable to take up the committed internship, you must notify in
writing both to your employer and the institute as early as possible. A failure in doing so will
be considered a serious violation of the University Discipline and will be punished/penalized
accordingly.
4. Payment
Employers offering work experience opportunities do not usually pay students for their work
but some may do so, and you may receive a stipend. Most students should, however, embark
upon the internship expecting to earn experience rather than money. In longer run, a strong
work experience will definitely be rewarding both academically and financially.
5. Client Confidentiality
An internee may be required by his/her employer to sign a Confidentiality Agreement as part
of the internship offer by the employing organization. Weather explicitly asked or not to sign
such an agreement, Client Confidentiality is an important requirement of an internship.
Please be careful not to discuss privileged information outside the workplace.

8. Evaluation
During the semester (in which the Internship is actually enrolled) a student is required to write
a report and submit to the Institute through the nominee of the Director for evaluation strictly
on or before the last date fixed for the purpose.
All the students are required to follow the approved format for writing their respective
Internship/Employment Reports. The report should be complete in all respects according to
the approved format. An evaluation will be conducted by a committee appointed by the
Director for the purpose and will be based on how well the examinee (student) has
demonstrated what has been learnt and accomplished during the internship both through the
written report and the oral examination. A typical written report will be approximately 30
pages of strictly relevant subject matter (excluding Appendices).
Evaluation will be based on the following break up of marks

play very important role in the economy of every country all over the world
and Pakistan is no exemption. Thisreport is about one of the leading
Agriculture Bank of the Pakistan known as Zarai TaraqiatiBank Limited.

Company Background
Agricultural Development Finance Corporation was created in 1952 under a Central Act for the
purpose of expanding financial facilities and promoting the development and modernization of
agriculture in Pakistan. In 1957, the Agricultural Bank of Pakistan was established and advanced
both short and long term loans. Both these institutions were merged as Agricultural Development
Bank of Pakistan in February 1961. On December 14, 2002, the converted the Agriculture
Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP) into Zarai Taraqiati Bank Ltd (ZTBL). The new corporate
structure redefined the banks as a single public limited company with an independent Board of
Directors
Zarai Taraqiati Bank (ZTBL) was registered under the Companies Ordinance 1984, and all
assets, liabilities and proceedings were transferred to and vested in Zari Taraqiati Bank with effect

titled as public limited company. Its aim under the presidential ordinance was to

In 1984Zarai Taraqiati Bank (ZTBL) under the companys ordinance was
registered with SECP as a public limited and by virtue of finance order, all assets,

B a n k (ADB) loan framework as per which a restructuring exercise was
initiated. The restructuring process entailed ADBs Rural Finance Sector

Strengths.
It provides the loan at cheaper interest rate as compare to the other Banks.
In Pakistan, majority of the farmers is poor thats why farmers are required
to get loan from the bank so ZTBL has a very vast market to operate in
ZTBL gets most of the funds from different developmental institu
t i o n s i n c l u d i n g Government, ADP, and SBP etc. so in case of bad debts the
bank wont have to suffer a lot.
It is affiliated with different research institutions and it has all s
o r t o f a g r i c u l t u r a l machines and technology so it can easily achieve its
aim which is the development of agriculture in Pakistan.
ZTBL has a staff college for the training of its employees in Islamabad,
through proper training more efficient team of employees can be made which shall be
beneficial in tough banking competition.
Weaknesses.
1.
Sometimes the lending is done on political basis. Due to the influence of political leaders
the recovery system is affected which leads to bad debts.
2.
The bank has no treasury department due to which funds are not being
properly utilized and the bank is missing a great opportunity to earn profit.
3.
Opportunities
By utilizing the efficient team of MCOs the bank can have heavy amount of deposits.
The bank can set up its treasury department in Karachi for proper utilization of the fundsand
for maximum profit earning.
The bank can reduce its expenses by laying-off non performing employees.
The bank has a good reputation in the market and its employees are highly
trained for agri business development planning so it can also operate in
Middle East because the Arabs are now focusing on agriculture.
Page12of17
Threats
As the economy situation is very bad and the country is facing liquidity
crunch thats why ZTBL may have to face difficulty in getting funds.
In order to overcome the liquidity problem the bank has started operating in
commercial banking market but due to inefficient commercial banking
practices ZTBL may have to face a severe situation.
The climate of the earth is rapidly changing due to which heavy rains and floods are often
anticipated. This is an alarming situation for ZTBL to operate in the market being an agri
lender.
