Assignment Brief
As part of the formal assessment for
ARUBAV2BA03
you are required to
submit a Business Analysis assignment. Please refer to your
Student
Handbook for full details of the programme assessment scheme
and general
information on preparing and submitting assignments.
Learning Outcomes:
After completing the module you should be able to:

Collect primary and secondary data from a range of sou

Present information in ways useful to decision makers

Utilise propriety software as an aid to decision making and control


Your assignment should include a title page containing your
personal details,
the
module name, the submission deadline and a word count;
appendices if relevant;
and a full reference list in Harvard format. You should address
all
the elements of
the assignment task listed below.
There are three questions. Questions 1 and carry 25
marks each and
question 4 carries 50 marks.

Assignment Task
Answer the following questions.
Please note the follow
ing instructions:

You may select any organisation upon which to base your answers
but you are strongly recommended to select an organisation that
you have worked for or one you feel you can research easily using
the Internet and academic search engines.
The latter approach is acceptable
where you do not work for an organisation. It is also acceptable to
base your answer on a case study.

Where you are asked to supply MS Excel (or equivalent) material


such
as graphs and/or data tables please note these

must be embedded as figures within the file and not shown as


linked files (i.e. your
assignment must be a single document in word or PDF format.
Turnitin
cannot accept multiple files or linked files).
Question 1
You have been asked to collect data on customer or supplier
perceptions of your organisation. What data collection method(s)
would you use and why?
What sampling technique would you use and why?
(25 marks)
Question 2
Drawing upon examples from your own organisation, or one with
which you are familiar provide one example of discrete data and
one example of continuous data. Include these data examples as
tables and for each table manually
calculate the following:
a)
The mean, mode and median averages
b)
The standard deviation.You must include all of your manual
calculations. Use an Excel spread sheet to verify your calculations
and embed a copy of this spread sheet in your answer.

Question 3
How can software generated information aid decision making in
organisations? You must draw upon relevant theory, concepts and
modelsand appropriate organisational examples to inform your
answer

Guidelines:
You
MUST
underpin your analysis and evaluation of the key issues with
appropriate and wide ranging academic research and ensure this is

referenced using the Harvard system. The My Study Skills Area


contains the
following useful resources; Study Skills Guide (containing a Harvard
Referencing section) and a Harvard Referencing Interactive
Tutorial.
You
must use the Harvard Referencing method
in your assignment.
Additional notes:
The
word count excludes the
title page, executive summary, reference list
and appendices.
Where assessment questions have been reprinted from the
assessment brief these will also be excluded from the word count.
