I. THE objects

Society
shall
be
as

the Society shall be chosen from among its Members,
and shall be ex officio members of the Council.
3. The President shall preside at all General,
Ordinary, or Special Meetings of the Society, and
of the Council or of any Committee at which he is
present. In case of the absence of the President,
one of the Vice-Presidents shall preside in his
stead, and in the absence of the Vice-Presidents
the Treasurer. In the absence of the Treasurer,
the Council or Committee shall appoint one of their
Members to preside.
4. The funds and other property of the Society
shall be administered and applied by the Council in
such manner as they shall consider most conducive to
the objects of the Society: in the Council shall also
be vested the control of all publications issued by
the Society, and the general management of all its
affairs and concerns. The number of the Council
shall not exceed fifty.
5. The Treasurer shall receive, on account of the
Society, all subscriptions, donations, or other moneys
accruing to the funds thereof, and shall make all
payments ordered by the Council.
6. No money shall be drawn out of the hands of the
Treasurer or dealt with otherwise than by an order
of Council, and a cheque signed by two members
of Council and countersigned by a Secretary.
7. The Council shall meet as often as they may
deem necessary for the despatch of business.
8. Due notice of every such Meeting shall be sent
to each Member of the Council,
by a summons
signed by the Secretary.

9. Three Members of the Council, provided not
more than one of the three present be a permanent
officer of the Society, shall be a quorum.
io. All questions before the Council shall be
determined by a majority of votes. The Chairman
to have a casting vote.
i 1. The Council shall prepare an Annual Report,
to be submitted to the Annual Meeting of the
Society.
12. The Secretary shall give notice in writing to
each Member of the Council of the ordinary days of
meeting of the Council, and shall have authority to
summon a Special and Extraordinary Meeting of the
Council on a requisition signed by at least four
Members of the Council.

16. The President and Vice-Presidents shall be
appointed for one year, after which they shall be
eligible for re-election at the Annual Meeting.
17. One-third of the Council shall retire every year,
but the Members so retiring shall be eligible for
re-election at the Annual Meeting.
I8. The Treasurer and Secretaries shall hold their
offices during the pleasure of the Council.
I9. The elections of the Officers, Council, and
Auditors, at the Annual Meeting, shall be by
a majority of the votes of those present. The
Chairman of the Meeting shall have a casting vote.
The mode in which the vote shall be taken shall
be determined by the President and Council.
20. Every Member of the Society shall be summoned to the Annual Meeting by notice issued at
least one month before it is held.
21. All motions made at the Annual Meeting shall
be in writing and shall be signed by the mover and
seconder. No motion shall be submitted, unless
notice of it has been given to the Secretary at least
three weeks before the Annual Meeting.

24. The names of all candidates wishing to become
Members of the Society shall be submitted to a
Meeting of the Council, and at their next Meeting
the Council shall proceed to the election of candidates so proposed: no such election to be valid unless
the candidate receives the votes of the majority of
those present.
25. The Annual Subscription of Members shall be
one guinea, payable and due on the Ist of January
each year; this annual subscription may be compounded for by a payment of ?'5 15s., entitling
compounders to be Members of the Society for
life, without further payment.
26. The payment of the Annual Subscription, or
of the Life Composition, entitles each Member to
receive a copy of the ordinary publications of the
Society.
27. When any Member of the Society shall be six
months in arrear of his Annual Subscription, the
Secretary or Treasurer shall remind him of the
arrears due, and in case of non-payment thereof
within six months after date of such notice, such
defaulting Member shall cease to be a Member of
the Society, unless the Council make an order to
the contrary.
28. Members intending to leave the Society must
send a formal notice of resignation to the Secretary
on or before January I ; otherwise they will be held
liable for the subscription for the current year.
29. If at any time there may appear cause for the
expulsion of a Member of the Society, a Special
Meeting of the Council shall be held to consider the
case, and if at such Meeting at least two-thirds of

VIII. That the manner in which books are lent
shall be as follows:(i) That all requests for the loan of books be
addressed to the Librarian.
(2) That the Librarian shall record all such
requests, and lend out the books in the
order of application.
(3) That in each case the name of the book and
of the borrower be inscribed, with the
date, in a special register to be kept by
the Librarian.
(4) Should a book not be returned within the
period specified, the Librarian shall reclaim it.
All
(5)
expenses of carriage to and fro shall be
borne by the borrower.
