Dear Sir/Mdm,
I am writing to apply for a position as an entry level consultant at Oliver Wyman. I am a final year
student at the University of Western Australia and will be graduating with a Bachelor of Science and
Commerce with majors in Investment finance, Corporate Finance and Anthropology. I also undertook
studies in Engineering, which I believe greatly enhanced my analytical and problem solving skills.
I was drawn to management consultancy out of a desire to experience a dynamic and challenging
career where I will face a diverse range of business problems across a range of industries. I was
attracted to Oliver Wyman by the firm culture of treating new hires as potential partners and allowing
them to contribute to important projects early on. I am individual that thrives on responsibility and
challenging projects and look forward to taking part in meaningful work.
My key qualities are my work ethic and desire to continually improve myself. Throughout the course
of my degree I have maintained a high distinction average while seeking out opportunities to develop
other skills. My study abroad experience was a huge stepping stone forward in pushing me outside of
my comfort zone and really shaped and developed who I am today.
Upon my return, I started the UWA Basketball Club and took positions on the Sports Council and
Motorsport Team. In these roles I developed strong interpersonal skills that allow me to effectively
operate as both a leader and member of a team. Furthermore, I learned how to start, run and improve
the operations of a vast range of teams, projects and organisations. My efforts grew the Basketball
Club to one of the three largest sports clubs within the first operating year and launched the
Motorsport team from a three man academic research group to a student led project of twenty students
from a range of faculties.
With my broad skillset and academic ability, I am able to learn quickly on the job. This was
demonstrated in my recent vacation work placement with PwC. Within a short three week program, I
learned to complete financial audit tests independently.
I am confident that I possess the correct attributes for this role and will be able to adapt to the
