Sacrament of Baptism
Baptism is the first step to become a Catholic Christian. Parents who wish to baptize their children agree to raise them in the Catholic faith.
For more information about the requirements for infant baptisms, check the bulletin or call Deacon Dan. Classes are the 2nd Saturday of
each month in the Faith Formation Complex room 13 at 9 am. For Spanish, classes are the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30pm in the
Faith Formation Complex room 13.

Sacrament of Reconciliation
God loves us and wants to forgive our sins. You can experience Gods unconditional love through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This
sacrament is available on Tuesdays from 8:30 to 9:00 am, and on Saturdays, English & Spanish, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm, or at other times by
contacting a priest. For Spanish call Fr. Bruno.

Sacrament of Marriage
Please contact the parish a minimum of six months prior to the wedding. Do not set a date prior to your first appointment with a priest or
deacon. If the wedding is to take place elsewhere, please seek advice from our clergy. For more information, please contact Deacon Dan at
565-8406. For Spanish call Fr. Bruno at 565-8406.

Funeral Arrangements
Please contact Deacon Dan in the Parish Office at 565-8406 as soon as possible after a death to make the funeral arrangements. Services can
be in English, Spanish or Bilingual.

A hospital chaplain covers all hospitals. In an emergency, please contact the hospital. After hours, please leave a message with the Parish Office and
you will be contacted the next business day.

The Parish Fish Bake

The Parish Fish Bake starts on Friday February 20th at the
Parish Center and will run every Friday during Lent, except

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

On February 18, 2015, we begin our Forty Days of Lent. This is a time of reflection
and prayer for some and others may donate to charity in the tradition of
almsgiving. For many though, the tradition of fasting is the chosen means of
honoring their faith. Though the paths we take through the Lenten season may
differ, we all embark on the same spiritual journey and we all share in the same
goal; to reaffirm our commitment to Christ and to our fellow man.

El 18 de febrero, 2015, empezaremos nuestros cuarenta das de cuaresma.

Este es un tiempo de reflexin y oracin para algunos y para otros un tiempo
para donar, practicando la caridad en la tradicin de dar limosnas. Para muchos
sin embargo la tradicin preferida para honrar su fe es la prctica del ayuno.
Aunque sean diferentes nuestras costumbres cuaresmales, todos nos
embarcamos en el mismo viaje espiritual y todos compartimos la misma meta,
afirmar nuestro compromiso con Cristo y con nuestro prjimo.

In reaffirming these commitments, I am reminded of a passage by the prophet

Isaiah, who said that true fasting is, sharing your bread with the hungry,
sheltering the oppressed and the homeless: clothing the naked when you see
them, and not turning your back on your own Is 58:6-7.

We should consider then that fasting is not just a physical act, but a spiritual one. It
is the emptying of sin in our hearts and of moral weakness in our minds. It is a
baptismal renewal achieved through the giving of ourselves to God and to each
other. Only by passing through this emptiness do we become spiritually full again.

Deberamos pues considerar que el ayuno no es solamente una accin fsica,

sino espiritual. Es el vaciar nuestros corazones del pecado y otras debilidades
morales en nuestras mentes. Es una renovacin bautismal que se logra por
medio de nuestra entrega a Dios y al prjimo. Solamente pasando por este
vaciamiento podemos estar espiritualmente llenos de nuevo.

When we observe someone who is suffering or in need, we should remember that

the person we are looking at is not really a stranger. As we all are sown from the
same seed, what we are seeing is ourselves but with a different face. We are
witnessing a manifestation of Christ in another form. So when we see those who
are hungry and homeless, we should not turn our back. We should recognize, as
Isaiah wisely states, that these are our own.

Cuando observamos que alguien sufre o pasa necesidad, debemos recordar

que esa persona que vemos no es realmente extraa a nosotros. Ya que todos
somos sembrados con la misma semilla, lo que vemos es a nosotros mismos
pero con diferente rostro. Somos testigos de una manifestacin de Cristo en

In keeping with that wisdom, I ask you to include Catholic Charities of Southern
Nevada as part of your Lenten Observance. If you pray, please pray for all those
Catholic Charities humbly serves. If you fast, please consider donating your
unused food to their food pantry. If you give alms, please remember the Annual
Ash Wednesday Collection and the Faces of Hunger Campaign are wonderful
opportunities to assist in the work of our Church for our brothers and sisters in
need.

Sur de Nevada como parte de sus observancias cuaresmales. Si oran, por

Fr. Albert Felice-Pace, O.P. and the Development Team from the St. Thomas
Aquinas Catholic Newman Community will be here Feb 14-15 to talk about
their Capital Campaign. They are striving to fund a new Catholic Chapel and
Center for the vibrant community at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
Their current worship space can only hold about 80 students per Sunday
Mass. They invite you to donate a square foot to their new chapel for $425,
either in a one-time donation or broken down into monthly payments.
The Newman Center has been bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the
students, faculty, and staff of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas since
1960. They serve students who are away from home for the first time and are
making the decision to continue practicing their faith.

Henderson Police Department.

Catholic Marriage in the Diocese of Las Vegas
For couples wishing to get married and live within our Diocese:
1. Couples should not set a wedding date until they have met
with their parish priest.
2. Couples should contact the brides parish to set a meeting
with the parish priest at least six months before the
anticipated date of the wedding.
