Unexpected Things ranked among to 10 pieces in juried selection for


International Computer Music Conference (ICMC 2011) Conference; included on
Conference CD.

2011

SBU/BNL Seed Grant awarded ($44,000) to The Data Sensorium: Multi-Modal


Explorations of Scientific Data, as Principle Investigator. Project focused on the
development, evaluation and implementation of multimodal visual and auditory
interfaces for the analysis of large scale data sets.

2010

Co-Chair of ICMC 2010 (International Computer Music Conference), the annual


conference of the International Computer Music Association, June 1-5, in New
York City and Stony Brook. 13 concerts, 14 paper sessions, installations, video,
listening room; approximately 350 attendees; conference budget of c. $90,000.

2006-

Co-author of successful proposal to create cDACT (Consortium for Digital Arts,


Culture and Technology) at Stony Brook. Continue as only original member still
on Executive Board of cDACT. On hiring committee of cluster hires; helped
develop curriculum for existing DIA minor and proposed major.

1997-

Helped to establish, and continue to advise for emedia Multimedia SINC Site, a
multimedia general use site and computer-ready classroom, collaboration with
the Departments of Music, Theater Arts, Art and Teaching, Learning+Technology.
Duties include selecting hardware and software and advising on its installation
and maintenance, running workshops and teaching courses.

1992-2006

Helped to establish, and co-directed, the Laboratory for Technology in the Arts
(LTA) at the State University of New York at Stony Brook: a multi-media crossdiscipline studio and teaching space under the auspices of the Departments of
Music, Theater Arts, and Art. The progenitor of cDACT.

1989-

Established and continue to co-administer the Computer Music Studio at SBU.


Duties include raising funds, selecting and installing equipment, establishing
curriculum, teaching, supervising technological concert support, and overseeing
daily studio activities, productions, and graduate assistants.

1994-

Established, continue to co-organize, program and present annual EarFest tape


music concerts at State University of New York at Stony Brook.

1991-

Established, continue to co-organize, program and present annual Computer


Music at Stony Brook concerts, now renamed Aural Architecture.

Organized, helped rehearse and present opening concert in 20.Festival to
commemorate the Lneburg 1000-year Jubilee and the 10th Anniversary of the
