After Thy descent into Hades, O Christ,

and Thy Resurrection from the
dead, the Disciples sorrowed, as was
fitting, grieving over Thy removal.
They returned to their occupations
and attended to their nets and their
ships; but there was no fishing
whatsoever. But Thou didst appear
unto them, and, since Thou art Lord
of all, Thou didst Command them to
cast the nets on the right side. And
at once the Word became Deed and
they caught much fish and found a
strange meal prepared for them
upon the ground.
And Thy
Disciples at once partook thereof.
And now, make us worthy with
them to enjoy it mentally, O Lord,
Lover of mankind.

These wise Teachers of Truth and Defenders of Christs Holy Church

share a joint Feast in recognition of their dogmatic writings,
which affirm the Divine Truth of the Orthodox Faith, correctly
interpret Holy Scripture, and censure the delusions of heretics.

Praise

To Stoma Mou lalisi Sofian ke i meleti My Mouth shall speak Wisdom and the

St Athanasios and St Cyril were worthy Archbishops/Patriarchs of

Alexandria.

Sacred Duo of Teachers and

zealots of the Lord, let us with
Hymns extol now, O Believers, and
praise them: Cyril that Divine Man, a
Flame of Fire, and the firm
Athanasios.
They are in Heaven
together and evermore intercede
with God on our behalf.

St Athanasios took part in the First Ecumenical Council while he

was still a Deacon.
He surpassed everyone there in his zeal to uphold the Teaching
that our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ is Consubstantial
(Homoousios) with God the Father, and not merely a creature, as
the Arians proclaimed, (which would have meant that there was
a time when He could not have existed that He could not be
the Eternal, Only Begotten Word and Son of God the Father.)
This radiant Beacon of Orthodoxy spent most of his life in exile from
his See, because of the plotting of his enemies.
St Athanasios returned to his Holy Flock as he was approaching the
end of his life.
Like an Evening Star, he Illumined the Orthodox Faithful with his
words for a little while, then reposed in 373.
He is also commemorated on 2 May, which commemorates the
Translation of his Holy Relics.

Thy

Priests shall clothe themselves

with Righteousness;
Thy Saints
shall greatly Rejoice.

O Christ, we pray Thee to visit this Thy

Selected Flock, which in the Pasture
grazes among wolves that are
vicious. Humble their audacity at
the appeals of Thy Two Holy
Hierarchs; for Thou can see that the
scandals of heresies even now
continue ceaselessly.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,

and to the Holy Spirit
