2014 PROVINCE WIDE ACADEMIC OLYMPICS

(REFLECTION)
Ariel T. Ferrer
At first, I thought that YMCA is just an organization which helps young people to pursue
their studies. But now, when I became a scholar, I am mistaken with my expectations. It is now
more than of what I expect, Its not only about helping and catering young minds but to
experience things that will tests our leadership skills, mentally, emotionally, physically and most
of all spiritually.
It is my pleasure to join and be one of the facilitators in this event of the YMCA. It is my
first time actually to facilitate a big event like this Academic Olympics. Despite of busy schedule
in school , I really do my best to attend and do the task that was given to me. It was also a once a
year big event so I took the opportunity to observe and face the challenge. I didnt think twice
because I am very willing to learn and be with my co scholars.
During the day of the event, I prepared myself and pray for the success of it. I relaxed
myself though I was a bit nervous because almost all of us are new scholars. In the venue, I felt a
little shyness considering that there are a lot of participants when we first did the registration.
When the contest proper started, we proceed to the event rooms that was assigned to us.
After the event, I felt so fulfilled though I know there are some flaws that we encountered
in the events given to us. It was a successful event after all. During the evaluation in the YMCA,
that is where I realized all the learnings in that event. It is nice to hear all the lessons that will
serve as a guide in the next program that we are about to join in. All the words and learnings that
was came out in Sir Nash, Sir Jimmy, Sir Marvin, Sir Emerson and Maam Julie will be put in
my mind and will serve as a weapon in the future events of the YMCA.
I am so really thankful with the YMCA, I realized that cooperation and sensitivity with
one another will make a better and successful event. Looking forward for the next program that I
will be joining in.

CYSO SWIMMING LESSON

REFLECTION
Ariel T. Ferrer

As a source of fund raising activity, the College Y Scholars Organization came up with a
swimming activity wherein the participants are high school students. Every Saturday, we, the
scholars are joining hands together to teach all the kids present in the swimming activity.
Our leader, one of the volunteer in the YMCA, Kuya Jeremy is our coach in the
swimming lesson. I am very happy teaching the kids though sometimes I cant attend because of
some activities in school. We, scholars, are enjoying and had a great bonding while helping the
kids to swim. It is really a fun activity that I experienced in the YMCA beside from the meetings
and trainings. I am really thankful that I the YMCA are conducting those activities that will also
help us to be trained physically.
I hope that the YMCA will continue helping us young individuals to become young
leaders with these kind of activities. I enjoyed it so much and I can feel the spirit of unity and
learning to hear someone elses opinion. In this kind of activity, we are able to know each other
also. So happy and thankful to YMCA and my fellow scholars.
