1. THESIS STATEMENT
Present the projects argument or interpretation in two sentences. If you are using the NHD theme, you might
want to make it evident in your thesis statement.

Mohandas Gandhi led India to independence through nonviolent means. He was a great leader
that gave India faith. With the tough times he had Gandhi stepped it up and he faced on what he
believed in. At the end he won Indias independence, something no one thought that will be
accomplish.

2. SUMMARY OF PROJECT
Briefly explain your project and its conclusion. Include: How and why did change happen and what was the
impact? Why is it historically significant? What historical meaning or importance can we learn from your
findings?

My project is significant because Gandhi made a change to his country and his whole

life by fighting independence. Something we can learn from him will be doing nonviolent
things .

3. Required for projects using the National History Day theme only.
Explain how this project integrates the NHD theme Leadership & Legacy in [Chicago/Illinois] History into its
argument.
The project integrates with the theme because Gandhi was a great leader in India for fighting
independence. He will be a leader for leaving a great legacy and for kids to look up to.

4. PROCESS
A. What historical question did you start off withand how did it change once you began doing
your research?
My historical question is how did Gandhi fight through India independence
through nonviolent means? It wasnt necessary to be changed.

B. What kinds of sources did you use as evidence to develop your argument (for example,
letters, photographs, government documents, interviews, etc.)?
Some sources I used for my website were some photos, websites and letters.

C. Select one piece of evidence that you used and explain how it influenced your argument.
A piece of evidenced I used for this website was a quote from Gandhi. I cannot
intentionally hurt anything that lives, much less human beings, even though they
may do the greatest wrong to me and mine. (Mohandas Gandhi) This quote
explains the whole clue to Gandhis success. Gandhi had the idea that violence was

not the answer but to use words.

D. List libraries (other than school), museums, and other institutions that you visited to do your
research.
Only used websites for the research.
