Operation instructions for the service software "ServiceNavi-EX"

1. Preparation
1-1. Prepare the PC with a built-in USB interface in which Windows XP Service
Pack3 is installed.
1-2. Prepare the USB connection cable (supplied).
1-3. Download "ServiceNavi-EX_xxxx.zip" and extract the files to a desired dir
ectory.
1-4. Check that .NET Framework supplied by Microsoft is installed in the PC.
From the [Start] menu, select [Control Panel] and then [Add/Remove Progr
ams].
Check that "Microsoft .NET Framework 2.5" or higher is installed.
If not installed yet, download it from the Microsoft download site and i
nstall it.

1-5. Download the binary package for the unit and extract it to a desired dire
ctory.
If the device driver is not installed, download the binary package of th
e camcorder,
and install the included device driver.
2. Starting the service software
2-1. Execute "ServiceNavi-EX.exe".
2-2. Enter the password to start the software.
3. Connecting the camcorder
3-1. For the PMW-EX1, PMW-EX1R and PMW-EX3, turn on the power in the "CAMERA"
mode.
For the PMW-EX30, PMW-10MD and PMW-350, turn on the power.
3-2. Connect the maintenance USB port of the camcorder to the port of the PC.
3-3. Click the [Connect] button on the operation window of ServiceNavi-EX.
3-4. Select "XDCAM_EX" (or "PMW-EX1") on the "Target USB Device" window, and t
hen click [OK].
* The device name of the maintenance USB port is "XDCAM_EX" (or "PMW-EX1
") for all models.
3-5. When the connection is completed, the machine information will be display
ed on the title bar of the operation window.
[Trouble shooting]
* Is the power of the camcorder turned on?
Turn on the camcorder power.
* Is the USB connector inserted correctly? Is the port correct?
Firmly connect the USB connector to the camcorder's maintenance USB port
and PC's USB port.
* Is "PMW-EX1" worked correctly in the Device Manager of the PC?
The specified device driver installation is required at the first connec
tion.
4. Using the software
4-1. Select the operation category.
4-2. Select the operation item. (Select the check box. You can select multiple
items.)
4-3.The operation guidance for the selected item is displayed. Follow the oper
ation guide.
4-4. Click the [Start] button to execute the item.
[Tips on usage]
* When the [Start] button is clicked, the selected items that are not executed
yet are sequentially executed.

* If you want to execute each item separately, click the right mouse button an
d select "Start (Selected Item)".
* The execution result is indicated as "OK/NG" in the status field.
When "OK" is indicated, the background of the item turns blue, and when "NG"
is indicated,
the background of the item turns red.
* For clearing the execution result, select the item and click the [Clear] but
ton.
* The elapsed time is displayed during the execution.
* Clicking the [Stop] button stops the operation in execution.
[Trouble Shooting]
* If a communication error occurs...
Once exit the ServiceNavi-EX and disconnect the USB cable.
Wait for 10 seconds, and redo from step 2.
5. Disconnecting the connection to the camcorder
5-1. Click the [Disconnect] button. The connection to the camcorder is disconn
ected.
[Tips on usage]
* To reconnect the camcorder, click the [Connect] button. (Refer to step 3-3.)
6. Exiting the service software
6-1. From the [File] menu of the software, select [Exit].

* The connection will be disconnected automatically when exiting the ServiceNa
vi-EX.
