t’s Saturday night at a well-known club in
Sydney’s inner-city. Music is blaring and the place
is crammed with well-dressed, middle to upper
class twenty-something’s. Strobe lights dance around
the room and everything from beer to champagne is
flowing freely from the bar, to the dance floor. The
bar staff are welcoming and the crowd is however
friendly.
Turn the corner and walk into the bathrooms and it’s
a whole different story. A young woman is vomiting
and has her head in the toilet, while two of her
friends hold her hair up and rub her back. Take a
couple of footsteps down near the male cubicles
and you can hear two young men raving about the

e were warned, but it didn’t ultimately make
it any easier when it came. APEC 2007 in
Sydney was mixture of intrigue, high farce,
