Abstract This article is a tribute to a wonderful
person and a great boss, boss Dr. Dr Radhakrishnan T. T on the occasion of his birthday. We wish him the years ahead with loads of fun, excitement and beautiful memories. His leadership and determination inspires us to be dedicated and determined. He makes us better at what we do, and indeed, he is the best mentor we ever had. What we are now, is just due to g out the best in us. He had his hard work. He brings seen us develop, grow, fail, perplexed, falter, and all the forms which a researcher undergoes in his career, and stood with us during our tough times. May he always have as much strength and courage to lead us and, more importantly, a truly happy life. This is our small honor for his birthday, but it is incomparable to the gift that he gives us everyday. Education and k knowledge l d are the th priceless i l presents t he h bestows b t on us.

Dr. Radhakrishnan T. is presently working on four
major aspects of cytogenetics, plant molecular biology, genetics and genomics. He has been instrumental in development of protocols for efficient regeneration (Radhakrishnan et al. 2000; 2001); genetic transformation (Radhakrishnan et al. ); interspecific p hybrid y rescue through g meristem 2000); culture (Radhakrishnan et al. 1999) in groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). Elite transgenic events with tolerance to salinity, water deficit stress (Bhauso et al. 2014; Tengale et al. 2014; Sarkar et al. 2014), resistance to foliar fungal disease, PSND and PBND were developed and characterized (Mehta et al. 2013). I the In th area off development d l t off genomic i resources for f the groundnut crop, his group has identified and generated first SSR based linkage map (Ravi et al. 2011; Sujay et al. 2012). The QTLs for rust and leaf spot resistance were transferred to 3 susceptible cultivars through MABC (Varshney et al. 2014). His group has identified 9 nontoxic isolates of Aspergillus flavus having 19 19-27 27 defective toxin producing genes which can be used as potential biocontrol agents (Singh et al. 2014). Further his group had also demonstrated the utility of these markers in genomics-assisted breeding of groundnut (Gautami et al. 2012). In the aspects of dissecting the molecular mechanism of biotic stress response in groundnut, his group has validated SSR markers linked to the rust and late leaf spot diseases resistance in diverse peanut genotypes (Kanagee et al. 2014).
