Eternal Wisdom: Swami Rama Tirtha

In his short span of thirty years, Swami Rama Tirtha blazed like a comet across
from India to America, illuminating the hearts and minds of fellow-men.
Excerpts from the wisdom brought to life by the Master:
Not by going out but entering within you are saved.
Not having anything to do, to be doing something is Vedanta
Fate is the fast friend of him who defies fate; luck is pluck
Cognition is possible only by limiting the attention to a special point
The hands that help are better far than the lips that pray
To win we must give all.
A community is adorned not by great men with small views, but small men with
great views
The whole world must move with one who feels himself one with the whole
world
Let nothing be prized higher than God, nothing valued equally with God.
We are punished by our sins, not for them.
Sin means misdirected energy.
The essence of prayer is to bring two things into unison- the will of God and the
will of man.
All truth is paradoxical. We must know both sides before we comprehend it.
Truth is round.
All time= now
All distance=here
All thought=God-consciousness
Even if you are obliged to stand alone, live with Truth, die in Truth.
The right punishment of one who is out of tune is to make him play in tune.
Keep yourself transparent, and the Light of lights will shine forth through you.
As you think so you become.

Be all you are in all you do.

Be steadfast like a light. Let the moths come and be consumed in you.
Every man is a channel through which heaven floweth.
The best place for each one is just where he stands.
Learning and wisdom are not identical. They are not always on speaking terms.
Learning looks backward to the past. Wisdom looks forward to the future.
To fill the Now and leave no crevice, for approval and repentance- this is
Happiness.
A man is rich in proportion to the things he can afford to let alone.
The world turns aside to let any man pass who knows whither he is going.
Not the withdrawn but the transfigured life, radiant with the power and energy,
triumphant in its selfishness, is religion.
When we push back water we swim forward. Just so, when we renounce, throw
back the things, we advance ahead.
Fear implies lack of faith. Fear invites danger. Fear is the most expensive guest to
entertain. We invite what we fear.
Healthy life is impossible without a constant throwing of what has been
exhausted.
People quarrel because they do not understand each others language.
Morality springs from the meditation.
I am Bliss in All.
When industry and virtue meet and kiss.
Holy their union, and the fruit is Bliss.
Through the mirror of the world, a man may arrive at the knowledge of himself.
Men are not influenced by things, but by their thoughts about things.
If things are in their place, they will always look well.
The stone that is fit for the wall will never be found in the way.
Change is the law of growth.

The branch which does not carry sap withers and dies
Life and Evolution is the constant giving off of life and light.
Change or Perish is the grim watchword of Nature.
The one cure for all maladies of man lies in discarding the idea of possession.
You are rich just by what you give.
Love might hope where reason would despair.
Love is life.
