Like most knitters, I see a knitted item and love it,

I MUST have it. I loved the simplicity and shape of
the one worn by the character Little Rock in the
hilarious movie Zombieland and looked for a
similar pattern. Since I couldn't find one, I
immediately went to work. Here it is for you
FREE. Enjoy this fast and fun knit in just a few
hours.
MATERIALS:
Needles: 10 (6.0 mm) circular 10 12 (6.5 mm)
circular & DPNs
Yarn: 1-2 skeins bulky weight yarn depending on
which version you choose (see decrease section below for options). Used in the examples is
Lion Brand Wool Ease Chunky - 12 ply, 80% Acrylic, 20% Wool in Indigo (blue) and Spice
(brown) colorways.
Gauge: 12.5 stitches and 17.75 rows in 4 inches in stockinette on size 10 needles
Tapestry needle
RIBBING:
On size 10 circulars, C.O. 72 stitches. Join & K1, P1 ribbing for 1-2
INCREASE ROUND:
*KFB, P, repeat from * to end of round
(108 sts.)
HAT: (With size 10 12 circulars)
*K1, P2, repeat from * until end of round.
Repeat this round until hat measures 10
from c.o. edge
DECREASE ROUNDS (brown example):
Round 1: *K2tog, repeat from * (54 sts.)
Brown hat's decreases look more like the one
in the movie. It takes up a little more yarn (approx.
160yds.) compared to the
blue one (approx. 145 yds.)

Round 2: repeat round 1 (27 sts.) Finish by

taking last 27 sts. off needle purlwise and
weave in ends.

Round 7: *K1, P1, repeat from * (10 sts.)
Finish by taking last 10 sts off needle purlwise
and weave in ends.

K: Knit
P: Purl
KFB: Knit front and back of stitch
K2tog: Knit 2 together
P2tog: Purl 2 together
P3tog: Purl 3 together
C.O.: cast on
B.O.: bind off
