CHAPTER 7
STORM WATER DRAINAGE AT THE SITE OF THE CONTAINER
TERMINAL
[l/sec] where :
m = is the coefficient of the design flow diminution, on account of the gutters storage
capacity in time and of the duration of the design rainfall, t;
m = 0,8 for t 40 minutes
S = the area of the drainage basin as per the design section [h];
= drainage coefficient according to area S;
= 0,85 for concrete and asphalt coating, and
0,75 for slab coating
i = design storm intensity, depending on the design storm frequency f, and duration, t
[l/sec,ha]
table 8: for drainage works performed on industrial sites of local importance, category of the
hydro-technical work (storm gutters) is :
3 - for stacking areas
4 - for remaining areas
table 13: for main permanent works, the importance class of the hydro-technical work (storm
gutters) is:
III - for stacking areas (of 3-rd category)
IV for remaining works (of 4-th category)
Frequency of design rainfall results from table 2 of STAS 1846-90, for economical units, as
follows:
1/2 - for stacking areas (of importance class III)
1/1 for remaining works (of importance class IV)
Determination of design rainfall duration
According to STAS 1846-90, the design rainfall duration is determined for the section
downstream the gutter length due for sizing, by means of the following formula:
t t cs
L
,
Va
[minutes], wherein
- gutter width
- gutters useful height
- wetted perimeter = b + 2b
- wetted area = b x b
- hydraulic radius = Au / Pu
